has anyone read the dark tower series??? these books are my all time favourites... i love Roland, and the whole story is just so captavating...these books interest me like no other books have, so far. i read them a few years back, and got up to "Wizard and Glass" which was as far as the series had gotten, at the time. they have all 7 of them out now, plus a re-issue of the very first, "the Gunslinger." so now i'm re-reading them, and i'm upto "The Waste Lands." i'm about half way through it. i just love these books so much. and i love how he's tied alot of his other books, in with these, in some way or another. for example, "Insomnia", "Hearts in Atlantis", and "Black House" all have references to Roland and/or the Dark Tower somewhere in them. i think that's a really brilliant idea. anyone else like them???
im on the last installment it gets pretty deep and trippy..... stephen king writes himself into his own book and one lil juicy fact comes out that the first thing stephen king ever wrote was the opening line to the gunslinger. have fun reading the rest!!
sweet! i can't wait until i get to the last book. although, i know when i do, i'll be sad. hehe. it's like a great movie you never want to end. i never want to stop reading about roland and his adventures! hahaha.
I used to love the books. I started reading them back in Jr High, and finished the last book at Christmas. I loved the series up to the Wizard and the Glass. After that, I felt they lost some of the magic. When I got to the end, well, I don't want to give anything away. Lets just say I didn't like the ending.
read all seven of em....high as a bitch. they were great. my advice though...dont read past where he says you might want to stop.
it ended just like i thought it would actually...i predicted it to a friend who had finished them already and she was shocked as hell..... ka is a wheel!
Yeah I have the first three. They're very captivating and surreal. I love Roland the mysterious gunslinger that he be. I plan on getting the rest and having a good ol' time
I've read them all and believe that the ending is how it should be..... not how i would have liked to do it, but it's Stephen Kings ending and that is how it is..... Rolands cool, but I've alwase had a soft spot for Cuthbert and Eddie....
You know... i see a big difference in the Roland from the Gunslinger and the Roland from the rest of the series... i think i liked the dark and damed Roland, from the Gunslinger, better....
I'm about halfway through the seventh...I fucking love em. Roland and Flagg/Walter/Marten are my favorite characters. it's trippy how King wrote himself into it, and how everything connects. "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came" by Robert Browning is a good poem too.

there is a big difference..but he wrote gunslinger 20 years ago...and also he has buddies now and is starting to care...its what makes the ending so brilliant....very philosophical ending i think
Oh, deffinitly..... he has his Ka-tet and everything...... but i still think the cold blooded- Shoot-Allie-in-the-head-before-she-can-finish-her-sentence-then-kill-every-one-in-town- Roland is better...... i prefer the original gunslinger to the new one ...... he just seemed to human in the new verson and all the books following......after all he is a trained killer.... that is what he is and that is what he does.....
oh i liked him like that too...was rough...i wanted to get through his walls and for him to remain a mystery...though as i am a romantic...i loved his love story and cried
I started these last year and they're really amazing. I only got through The Drawing of the Three before class started and I haven't had time to read anything but stuff for my AP english course since . I just finished the last one for that course 5 minutes ago!! (It was Bless Me, Ultima, which was astounding too and easily my favorite all year). I wanted to just grab book 3 and start reading with my new freedom, but I don't have it...
