How do you know if youÕre a hippie?

No, really...how do I know? I'm 26. I was first exposed to the hippie lifestyle in high school when I went to 2 Grateful Dead shows. I immediately fell in love with the whole scene...the people, the attitude, the music, and for a little while, the drugs. I've always had a blast at "hippie-type" shows, over the years frequenting Phish, the remaining members if the Dead in their various forms, and other such Òjam bandsÓ. I stopped doing drugs a few years ago after I had a few bad experiences. The last time I smoked pot was last summer and I hadnÕt smoked for almost a year before that.
I love and embrace the hippie attitude in many respects. IÕm kind to the environment ie. recycling, and buying organic foods. I stand for the rights of others; gay, ethnic minorities and the indigent. I drive a fuel efficient 14 year old Honda Accord (refuse to buy another car if this one works fine). I limit my buying to only the basics, often feeling that I still have way more than I need. IÕm against Bush...but who in their right mind isnÕt? I voted for Nader, second choice Dennis Kucinich. IÕve always felt strongly about organized resistance, standing up for what I believe in, and not caving in to the pressures around me.
However I donÕt look the part at all, I like wearing shoes in public places, going to bed before 1am, and I refuse to use an overflowing port-a-potty.
Am I a hippie?

De La Soul is the name of a band. As for me, I was on (in?) the forum about a year ago and decided to come back. thanks for the welcome.

 

The question is would you like to see heaven on earth? If so your a hippie. Everyone is a hippie, some just need to relax and enjoy themselves.

 

i agree... i didnt know what a hippie was till a girl at school in the 4th grade called me a " stupid tree huggin hippie" then i got really in to it.

 

I don't think you are ever too old or too young to return to Mother Earth...

Hey i cant really help you with the hippy thing. but i am somewhat of a mechanicl. personally i disagree with your philosphy, ie i drive a big truck and i dont like little cars. However i will admit that as long as you do cheap basic maintanence to your little honda then that thing will run for you as long as you want it to provided you drive conservatively

 

you MUST go without a shower fro a whole month.
then you must go through the initiation.
then we will ship your credentials off to the home office.
then we will decide if youre a hippy or not.
im thinking not, but if you want to go through all the paper work anyway, i guess i cant say no.
