I could care less about the facts....doing what you feel is morally right seems more important than doing it becuase a website told you it was good.

i never said they called them that, but I personally do. And as much as i really want to get in it with you about this, i really don't. Like i stated above, i hear enough from people in my house every day, and have to defend myself regularly- i'm not going to sit here and waste an hour just to lay out these facts for a stranger. :p the bottom line is it's my choice, and it has nothing to do with anyone else, just as it's yours to eat what you eat.

Are you serious? You've never heard the so called "heart health" programs which say stuff like: "don't eat saturated fat or you'll drop dead of a heart attack"? Heart health awareness programs have been scaring people off animal fats for years

I'm not sure what you mean there. The food pyramid is weighted toward plants and grains. I think you might be looking at the pyramid upside down.

This is the most amusing part of your post.:p

I'm no expert on ecology, but the detailed article I presented, which is on a an impartial, health-based web site, details this first point, citing no less than 10 (!!!!) references to scientific literature to support the claims, and you try to debunk it with a link to a web site called "Tax Meat", with a bunch of claims that cite no references at all????!!!!:p WOW!!

The bottom line is that it IS your choice, but just be aware that a vegan eating plan is not the healthiest, natural diet for humans, and if you choose to be a vegan, you should do so carefully, being aware that you may need to supplement, etc.

yeah, it is totally natural to artificially inseminate cows, keep them the way they do, pump them with growth hormones and then feed them antibiotics to keep them healthy in what would otherwise be absolutley terrible for their health and well being, and still is. oh the pesticides and herbicides and cruelty are totally the way nature intended it to be........

and how can you tell me i am not healthier for drinking this gluten free vanilla soymilk made from organic GMO-freesoybeans????it has everything milk has but MORE of it, it compares the makeup of it and normal milk on the side, it has MORE vitamin b12, more calcium, less fat, and some more of the other good stuff and is equal in everything else.

'you may need to supplement, etc.'
like it is some complicated procedure to take a multi vitamin everyday, which is something i should be doing anyway regardless of being vegan or not...

hmmm....I don't believe I recommended eating growth hormone-infested live-stock. Have you heard of organic meat, fruits and veg?

Once again, I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. Did you read my post? I don't believe I said anything about milk or soy milk. A paleolithic diet (the one I suggest is the healthiest) doesn't include milk, nor does it inlcude pesticides, antibiotics or growth hormones, etc.

I'm actually having a coffee right now with vanilla flavoured soy milk...YUMMY!:)

The jury is still out of whether or not a soy based diet is healthy, and keep in mind that most soy milks have a lot of sugar -- it doesn't matter if it's raw sugar, because raw sugar still has a high glycaemic effect.

Again, I'm not sure what you mean. I don't think I suggested it was at all difficult to pop a vitamin pill. In fact, I've said a few times on this forum: "how hard is it to take a B12 pill? Not hard at all".

you just made it seem like it was some dangerous complicated task to be healthy if you are vegan "you may need to supplement, etc..." one could easily pose the argument though that the average vegan is way healthier than your average person, or american at least....

and good for you then, not drinking milk and eating organic, for us soy milking organic fooders(for the most part anyway...) :)

btw, no i have never heard of organic fruits or veggies here in america...what are those? lol... and i apologize for sordove getting into it with you, i am not used to debating with knowledgeable meateaters, lol..

Omni Vore, I will wager you are not the same person you were 15 years ago, and MANY of the veggies on this board were not in control of their diets.
Vegetarianism has ALWAYS been of four arguements:
    Spiritual/ethical (includes morals)
    Health
Esthetics -no carcasses (the word used in the meat industry, BTW)
    Animal betterment (today's Vegan argument)

Also B-12 occurs in fermentation, so there is a non-animal source.
you are correct on the manure bit.

with food sciebce where it is and communication so instantaneous, it is increasingly easier to eat an ethical veg diet with fewer suppliments.
