Why cant we just leave people alone?

I just dont get it. Why the fuck do people have this urgent need to make others change their lifestyles just beacuse they dont agree?

I think that it is our differences that make us as a species so fantastic and interesting. How boring would it be if we all liked the same music, believed in the same religion, liked the same food, did the same job, voted for the same person, wore the same clothes, liked to fuck the same people, etc, etc...

I might not agree with everything everyone says here and I have gotten as heated as anyone else about issues I feel strongly over, but I have NEVER tried to tell someone that their lifestyle choice was wrong. Not in my entire life.

Cant we just live and let live?

AM I the only one that feels this way? I love you all, even if I dont agree with something you say or something you do.

You can see the light of the universe in everyone's eyes if you just look hard enough.

Do you honestly think they would live long enough to kill everyone. Nature has its ways of pretecting itself. I think setting a good example for people is the best way to let them change themselves. Thats what Jesus did.

Yeah, it bothers me sooo much when people try to change people. I guess it's because I'm constantly the target of it...Here's some of the blatant, rude things my brother and friend have actually said to me....
"You need to stop wearing all of those beads and hemp and start wearing pearls like a real woman."
"Stop liking such stoners, you need to like a guy in your same economic bracket. This way you won't need a job when you're older."
"You're as deep as an olympic swimming pool, shallow up." (i think that's kind of funny though)

i think she was making an analogy to the meat industry, since that is most likely what our deadhead friend here is talking about, the veggies(and vegans) in the vegetarian forum after he came in there and started talking with us....

 

You guys are dicks. I am not talking about beating your kids (which I dont do) or having a hobby of murdering people(which I guess is up for debate since I am a member of the evil armed forces) or wheather you eat meat or not. Why in the world can you people not understand? People here talk about love and peace and understanding and open-mindedness and freedom of expression... until it's something they dont agree with. Why must you try to make others feel bad? Did daddy not love you enough? Or maybe he loved you too much?

Some people are just xenophobes, they can't stand people who are different from them. They're convinced that they're way of living is the only acceptable way. They equate open-mindedness with naivete.

There are certain qualities I don't like in people and I might let them know, but it doesn't necessarily mean I'll dislike that person as a whole. This would be a much better world if everyone made at least a half-assed effort to get along.

 

i agree. i love how people in my school are so diverse and we all like diff music n stuff. im glad that i like the rolling stones and other ppl like rap.im not a christian but i love them and without them then i wouldnt realize why i am the way i am. i agree with u full heartedly. im a hippie but i wouldnt want everyone to be just like me. wheres the fun in that? diversity is entertainment.

 

I agree with you, DeadHead. Unless someone is running around raping babies or anything, it's their life. I'd rather be the best individual person I can be than harass others for what I see as "faults".

I try to change people if their current attitude affects others directly... like make them more accepting of different kinds of dress, culture or habits. And convince people to be more environmentally friendly, 'cause that affects all of us too. But otherwise, it's everyone's own business what they wanna say, do, wear or believe.

I've never been one to try to change anyone, but I do put my own opinions out there...if someone can take something from anything I say and THEY make a change, however small, because of it, that's fine...and if they think I'm full of shit, that's fine too...trying to change people doesn't work anyway...you can only really change yourself,and that is often very hard work in itself...I believe people who change for the sake of others only do so superficially and will revert to their old selves as soon as they can

I think also that some people aren't good to leave alone because thats the whole freaking point they are the way they are. They need love and support.
