Please, my fellow citizens, I urge you to act at once to ban this deadly and widespread chemical. This petition is for the complete ban of Dihydrogen monoxide. Dihydrogen monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills uncounted thousands of people every year. Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death. Dihydrogen monoxide: - is the major component of acid rain - contributes to the "greenhouse effect" - it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state - contributes to erosion - accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals - may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes - has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients Despite the dangers, dihydrogen monoxide is often used: - as an industrial solvent and coolant. - in nuclear power plants. - in the production of styrofoam. - as a fire retardant. - in many forms of cruel animal research. - as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products. Companies dump waste DHMO into rivers and the ocean, and nothing can be done to stop them because this practice is still legal. The American government has refused to ban the production, distribution, or use of this damaging chemical due to its "importance to the economic health of this nation." In fact, the navy and other military organizations are conducting experiments with DHMO, and designing multi-billion dollar devices to control and utilize it during warfare situations. Hundreds of military research facilities receive tons of it through a highly sophisticated underground distribution network. Many store large quantities for later use. Why is that a sad thing? DHMO, a.k.a. Hydric Acid, kills thousands of people every year. It is even sold to our children in concentrated form in almost every elementary school in america. If we don't rid our planet of DHMO now, it will be here for billions of years, it doesn't just go away, it stays in the atmosphere forever. Do you have any idea how much is in our lakes and rivers already? Did you know that common tapwater contains more Dyhydrogen Monoxide than any other chemical, even chlorine and flouride? DHMO is no laughing matter, accidental inhalation can cause death within minutes.

Yes, and it is the most addictive drug known to man. In 100% of all human cases complete withdrawal causes death within a week. The sad thing is that due to it's widespread use we are probably all addicted even if we don't know it.
The problem is banning won't be a solution. We have become so dependant on it, sudden absence of it would result in a severe downturn in our standard of living. Studies has also shown getting rid of it from the environment would require tens, maybe hundreds of billions of dollars. What we do need is more studies on this problem.

Actually it's good for california. The heavy rains cause the mudslides that put out the fires caused by the earthquakes.

It's a grave danger to Americans, I feel that we should invade those responsible for it. It is in it's largest concentration in the pacific ocean, so therefore an invasion of East Asia and the west coast of the Americas is in order.

The proper name is carbon monoxide, but I believe people have begun using carbon oxide as well. Dihydrogen oxide is a polar covalent bond, and therefore when naming the compound, the prefix to determine the number of molecules only goes on the hydrogen. When you get into multiples H2O2, then you have Hydrogen Peroxide, or H4N2 is Hydrazine. You get the point.
