haha well im a wimp too not because of my period but because i have a wax appt tomorrow.....really dreading it!!
im a wimp when it comes to pain. piercings freak me out.. well needles altogether make me shaky at the knees. although, i would love to get my ears done again and my belly button... just got to suck it up one day and go for it!
before I got on BC, my periods would make me cry on the floor in the fetal position. It's ok , you can tell us about it.
alright the cramps don't bother me i have a pretty high pain tolerance but the tampons ya'll told me to try were a no go. who designs the things anyway they're made out of hard materials and I tried but just couldn't do it it was painful as they're the dryiest things on the damn planet. do some people just never get used to them are there others like me who despise them and are too wimpy to insert them?
I'm a wimp when it comes to my period too, see the 'cramps' thread... High pain tolerance for everything else but when it comes to my period I just can't stand it! And I've still not tried the Keeper/Divacup, keep putting it off...
I know you didn't mean too but my mind made me split my pants laughing!!! never edit posts about stuff like that please or all of us will end up going back and cleaning up our rants and raves and I think we all could do with some exposure to others moments! periods are just a big pain in the......(fill in the blanks!!)
Oh man, I tried to stick a tampon in once before I'd had sex...man, it hurt like a sonofabitch! I know what you're talking about. I didn't try them again until 2 years later after I lost my virginity and was more accustomed the things going in there lol. I figured, well hell, that goes in there just fine, why shouldn't a tampon? It still took a bit. I don't know about other gals, but I always have to sit or stand in JUST the right position, or it won't go in easy, or quite right . It sure is picky down there lol
that sucks lynsey...... yeah i remember talking about it before, seriously though, if you just try every now and then, you'll get it to work. it took me ages to figure it out. i remember thinking that the fucking things were dry and hurt like all hell. i remember sitting on the edge of the bathtub staring at this tampon and thinking about how gross it was to shove a hard wad of cotton inside of your body. haha... i was nervous though and i'm sure i was tensing up so it's no wonder i couldn't get it in more than a couple of centimetres. but yeah, eventually i just got sick of pads and really tried again, and it went in easily. sometimes because it's dry it pinches a little right at the outside, but once you go in even a tiny bit, it goes away and you don't feel anything. peace, sophia
if you ever try again, make sure you try with a plastic applicator, in case you weren't before. definitely if you're trying for the first time, they make a big difference. a plain tampon will feel like a wad of cotton... the plastic applicators make the whole process a lot more smooth and simple. once you're more adept, switch to biodegradeable applicators.
I used to use tampons (yeah, I was afraid of them at first, too) but I got so many yeast infections, from the damn things chapping me raw, that I just stuck to pads. About once a year or so, I will wear one, if my cramps arent too bad, if I want to swim, but that is pretty rare. I take the damn thing out right away (WHY do I always have my period when we go on vacation?????) You don't have to use tampons, and pads keep your yoni less invaded, if you feel like you don't like something IN you. Just use pads. If you have menstrual cramps, tampons can actually make them worse, for some womyn. They did for me.
I was never really afraid of tampons... Ive been using them for over 10 years now.. Sometimes they hurt a little but most of the time their fine.... do you have a heavy flow or a light one... if you turn it a bit the dryness usually goes away....
thanks so much Maggie that made me feel not so alone in my dislike for them They do make me feel kind of invaded
you can try the Playtex Beyond. They're still cardboard...but they're shaped like a plastic aplicator. SOOO much easier than the regular cardboard ones.
Yah my first time using a tampon hurt like bloody hell. I agree, using the plastic applicators are far better than the cardboard applicators. You do get used to the tampon though. Just at first when you're using them it does hurt at first. I never liked pads, I couldn't get used to the pad being in my underwear knowing there was blood matted against the pad and I was still wearing the pad. It felt disgusting. But I do understand where you are coming from Lynsey, but it really does get better the more you use them. So much more comortable.
