Is a table lap sufficient enough?

Ok I've decided to give growing a go, and have sectioned off a corner of my closet, about 1 feet square an 3 feet high. I'm only lookin to do this small scale and grow only about 1 plant, 2 max. So i was wonderin seein as i just want to do this as like a part time hobby that would a 40W desk lamp be suitable enough for the plant?

for your little space an envirolight might be the way to go, pretty cheap, no heat

i posted a link to a web site selling cheap lights the other week, do a search, cheaper than the envirolight, but you might have heat trouble in your space with them ... check and see

A 70 watt HPS yard light is cheap and works well.

 

A 40 W desk lamp aint gonna cut it !! If your serious about getting rewards for the time you put in then light is your # 1 priority along with genetics. Next comes ventilation. But listen to Geck about that HPS.

 

If you are lookin for a cheap light, I got a 250HPS complete with ballast and hood from insidesun.com for about $100. I couldn't find a better deal anywhere.

I know some people bitch about insidesun.com but I had phenomenal service from them. I always get prompt replies to my email and I got my order about a week and a half after I sent the money. I couldn't be happier with them.

 

BTW, I tried growing with a 125w floodlight. Trust me, don't try and use a crappy light, otherwise you are going to waste your time and in the end only harvest a few handfuls of schwag. Unless, of course, schwag is your goal.
