Ramsey Clark, ex-Attorney General of USA.

Right he is! America has no right to hawk its rotten life pattern to the rest of the world!
One should be very rich to enjoy that American type of democracy. Actually what they are having in USA is rather an expensive game for the wealthy.
Lobbying is main machine in this game. The “forth largest power” next to the President, the Congress and the Court, they call it. There is really a huge army of registered lobbyists reaching 34,750 that comes 60 to 1 compared with the total number of US federal elected officials. This army spends annually billions dollars to promote their clients’ wishes.
The latest national public opinion survey by US News and World report revealed that 73 percent Americans believe those at the top in America are absolutely out of touch with “small potatoes”. And 62 percent think their leaders seek for increase in personal wealth. 49 percent American adults are sure that most members of Congress are corrupt.
It looks like Americans themselves say “No!” to their boasted type of democracy. They tend to see it as an alien one. Their next step could be revolt. That’s why governing structures are trying to manipulate information to their benefit. They are just misinforming average Americans to keep things as they are now. In the past 4 years at least 20 federal agencies including Def. Dep. and others have made and distributed hundreds of television news segments. At the same time US administration bans on other different voices telling the truth to Americans. In fact there is no freedom of speech in the USA presently.
Democracy and freedom of speech are myths in USA!

    Totally your opinion.
I think it is also funny to call a "two-party-system" democracy ...

Would that be the same Ramsey Clark that attended the funeral of Slobodan Milosovic and is affiliated with lunatic extreme left groups like the WWP?

Yes it would. He's hardly in a position to criticise democracy anywhere.

In all respect to Ramsey Clark, he should know that we are not a Democracy. The United States was never intended to be a Democracy.

The United States is a Representative Republic.

No one has ever said the USA was a democracy - it is a "parliamentary democracy".
That means that you vote for the party which you feel should have the biggest voice in parliament. After your vote the parliament decides what is best for society and the people are hence irrelevent until the parliamentary session ends (same in the UK)
You elect people to speak on your behalf -
Dont like it? dont vote! If you vote and your side loses what complaint do you have?
similarly if you vote and your side wins then accept that you voted them in - you cant gamble by voting and then complain youre a loser. If you dont like the game dont play. Switch the telivision off and ignore what is going on -
then quietly go about putting the world to rights until you form a force big enough to tackle government

America is a capitalist democratic republic, but I like to think of it as a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie.

actually, a parliamentary system refers to the executive of a government being dependent on the confidence of the legislature. rather than a true seperation of powers. which is what the united states has.

good try on sounding educated though. you're referring to representative democracy. and you're forgetting the fundamental freedom that anybody can start a party.

Its essentially the same - I take it that you are not a senator or any other political representative, and the only hope you have is in appealing through the representatives of your so called democracy. When they laugh behind your back and vote to make themselves richer - how the fuck can that be a democracy - when was the last time anyone voted and the party they voted for actually committed itself to fulfilment of promises - when was the last time your vote ever made a fuckin difference, yet those murdering bastards you vote for get to vote on every fuckin dream they cripple - every kid they burn - every soldiers life they take and it dont matter which party they are from or whatever group they represent - they are gonna vote for themselves and say fuck you - because its about power - stupid - these people are in a parliament - dont matter what form of democracy it is - you are not invited to take part once your vote is done
dont worry about it toni - anyone who quotes RW Emerson is bound to have their head up their arse and be a true Blue
and what good is that when the means of communication IE television is owned by supporters of the ruling elite? Also what good is it to have another fuckup like the ones we've already got? We learned a long time ago on the Left to be wary and individualise - now they all know up at the ivory towers of the parliaments all round the world - the real threat is the anti-capitalist Left - it has no party and its a force of individuals
screw RW Emerson he stood for nothing that could be understood by the
workers of south America in the Cocaine fields the US aristocracy own
Just like the Afghans in the British Heroin trade
ITS ALL ABOUT THE DRUGS THE OIL AND THE ECONOMY - they aint bothered about democracy - get it?

Sorry Green, Its a harsh criticism but monthly review or any other socialist claptrap is not exactly an example of the modern left. Theyre just a different sort of aspiring slave owner. Monthly review - they seem stuck in the days of the coldwar with all their pseudo scientific marxist diatribe.
