Ok, this is for all the Bush apologists (such as "Pepik/PB" and his ilk) to enlighten us all on the REAL reason(s) we invaded Iraq. So... tee up, gentlemen and swing that club. Make our Cobra Commander proud! I'll help you with a little background support : atriot: "U-S-A, U-S-A, We'll stick a boot in your ass, it's the American way! U-S-AAAAA!"
Damn, you must be correct, earthmother. Well, that didn't take much. I guess blunt questions through their spin off its axis.
I'd not consider myself a Bush apologist - but i guess in your eyes - because i'm not apposed to the Iraq war - i must be. I guess you can [or should] alter it to me being a Blair apologist. Given I'm English. Imho we went to war because of WMD / Saddams continued reluctance to meet his UN obligations [over ther course of a dacade or more]. It turned out the inteligence - the majority [if not all] goverments agreed was correct - turned out to be false. He still failed to comply with the resolutions. So i think that was a strong rationale in itself. He and everybody knew what the consequences would be if he failed to do as he was obligated to do. I'm sure the rationale for other 'Bush apologists' has been articulated hundreds of different times and in all manner of ways. I bet the majority of people are sick and tired of going over it - again and again and again. I add my rationale as to show - i'm not hiding from the thread or the question. I'm sorry it is a boring explanation - but that is what it boils down to - for me. ''U-S-A, U-S-A, We'll stick a boot in your ass, it's the American way! U-S-AAAAA!" mmmm bit simplistic of you - do you not think. Everybody not falling into your camp - must be a flag waving aggresive - arm chair general - hahahahaha . Sorry i'm not one of those hahahahahahaha. Why do YOU think 'we' invaded ?.
whatever you do, don't ask the war supporters why they don't join up and fight this "frightful" enemy, this really hurts their feelings and anyway someone's got to look after their sick dog
Here is a very good video as to why the US went after Saddam. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePb6H-j51xE Don't you think?
Hmmm.... that makes me wonder how come we didn't overthrow Saddam either way before... oh yeah... WE WERE SUPPORTING HIM. Forget the late 70s and 80s??? Oh...gee...let's see...wonder WHY the U.S. isn't invading other countries where leaders are committing human rights abuses? Such as, em...I dunno... SAUDIA ARABIA?!? Oh yeah... I forgot. THEY are our allies. Just like all of those Saudia Arabian terrorists on 9/11. Please wacky, that excuse is pure BUSHIT. And doesn't hold water. The Democrats were lead to belief something that was untrue by UN-intelligence and Bush took that UN-intelligence and cherry picked his war. Now, how about another try? We didn't invade Iraq to liberate Iraq...that's ad hoc. Bush ad hoc bushit.
Its a lot of fun to argue about why we got there, but let me ask another question. Saddam is gone, there are no WMD's, why don't we bring the troops home for a big victory parade?
Unfortunately for you, that argument will only work against Democrats who believe there is a difference between the two parties. Some people, such as myself, see beyond that and understand these phony politicians, regardless of party affiliation, are all the same. So if both parties are wrong, and they are, how does this make it right? What does it prove? Keep on playing your partisan political game while worshipping Bush.
The fact is, the Bush administration wasn't simply fed false intelligence. They were using cherry-picked intelligence they knew was false and outdated to justify the war. They lied! Simple as that! All one needs to do is read the Downing Street Memo, or look at the Niger yellow cake uranium scandal, which was proven to be a total hoax.
mbworkrelated you are right the overwhelming response was - no, i will not join up to fight the "enemy" but the continuing response from these people is support for the war. this is known as hypocrisy you and about 2 others have admitted you won't join up for your beliefs. no one just wakes one morning and says "gee you know what? those iraqis are really bad people, maybe we should go bomb em?" no these kinds of things are built up in the minds of the public until they only thing they can think about is bombing a people that live a long way away and probably didn't think about your people very much till you started bombing them. just step back a bit and think about the meaning of life. is it on going wars with no real purpose or direction? the average joe like likes to relax a bit do some work, go on holiday and experience a few different things before they die. who in their right mind wants to bombing people they'll never see or hear from?? stop bombing these people and they'll leave you alone, stop messing with them and they'll forget you, despite what the hyped up media says, people are people no matter where they are from or what they believe. we are being trained to believe these people want to wage war on us. stop making them angry get out of their countries and leave them alone. as for the suicide bombers? well with no further threats from the us et al he'll prefer to read the newspaper or television or koran etc..
What gets me is that Saddam Hussein never attacked the U.S., there was no evidence that he was even going to, he had no W.M.D., and we invaded and killed thousands of people because we THOUGHT he MAY attack us later on down the road? That sounds like something Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin would've come up with. "Let's invade this country that may, one day, have the capability to attack us even though they have never been a threat before." So, what's next? Will we start arresting people and placing them in camps without trial because we THINK they MAY be going to do something one day? Heck, that guy MAY kill somebody one day, let's go ahead and put him in jail first ? OH WAIT... We ARE doing that! Will we suspend habeas corpus and get those witches... er Jews...er...Commies...er...Drug Dealers...wait no this time it's ...TERRORISTS? ( NEW BIG THING.) OH WAIT... We ARE doing that! Even though many of them are not witches...I mean terrorists. We are fighting because we have powermonger colonial imperialists in control. That's what I gather from the evidence at hand.
the day america bombed bagdad was america's day of infamy. japan had much more reall and better justification for bombing pearl harbour then we ever did for invading iraq. to paraphrase country joe and the fish: "and it's one, two three, what are we fightin for? don't ask me i don't give a dam, next stop is iraq land, and it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates, woopie we're all gona die. ... come on fathers accross the land pack your boys off to i-raq and be the first one on your block to have your boy come home in a box ... " did anyone notice this past "st pattie's day" weekend, which was also naw ruiz weekend, which is new years in much of the arabic and farsi world, was the fourth aniversary of bush's america's day of infamy? did any of your local media cover the mass protests? alternative media did. =^^= .../\...
So you can't agree with the rationale it was waged - unless you are willing to go out their and fight ?. I think that is slightly stupid reasoning on your part - but we have been through this enough already. I'm not dragging that all up again. I'm not a fighter guy. There is already a group of people that carry out these duties - that would be the armed services. I'm not going to join the armed services - because i'm just not cut out for that life. You just do not go up to the local recruiting officer and say: Give me a gun and some bullets and let me go get some. As i'm sure you are aware [if you would join me in the real world]. Give me some credit guy.... I do not want to bomb lots of people because i do not like them. The Iraqi people - on the whole - are not bad people. I do not judge the majority by the minority. Plus the majority of the violence is being orchestrated by other groups who have found another 'failed state' to do their Jihad within. Plus elements of the populace who have been awaiting the removal of Saddam to seek power. They do not give a toss about the Iraqi people [them as a whole] - i do. Do you not think i did not do that - while gathering my thoughts on this issue ?. There is a purpose imho and we could argue the direction it is going or not going. If you are fundementaly apposed to war - fair enough - i never have a problem with that. Just when i'm being accused of this that and the other - because i'm not a pacifist. I do not want to bomb anybody - my goal like the majority of soldiers - would be to protect the people. I despise the way war is waged but the fundamental role i think i would find rewarding - would be to remove the rot from the apple. Improve the security of the people and get the hell out of there asap. That has a element of truth within it. The point is though the average joe public is NOT killing anybody - they would love for ALL the fighting to stop. Remove all the people that are fighting [on all sides]. Allow the Iraqi authority - to decide who they wish to help them and what they wish that help to be. I'm confident it would involve our military and governments. Heavens above - that is the reality at the moment [the Iraqi government accepting our help] *shock horror*. That would be great if it was true. Who do these suicide bombers blow up - apart from soldiers ?. Why are they doing it ?. I accept that if we were not there the excuses would diminish. The sad fact is the majority of the violence is not directed at the troops.
