Seriously skimming through that that line basically jumped out of slapped me in the face.

Caught selling weed without gun - If you only have say between 1-3 ounces on you and it's your first offense(or your priors are minor things), there's a good chance you're walking about of court with probation and a suspended sentence

Caught with intent to distribute and possession of firearm - Mandatory jail time.

 

Haha what the hell? I couldn't read through that.

there is a difference to an Illegal firearm and one thats legal to posssess .. This may hold true to the amount of marijuana confiscated during an arrest with a legal firearm. Suppose we jump from state to state , police to police..
Suspect was pulled over with legal firearm, and a small amount of cannabis. / fine no jail time on the cannabis. the gun is cleared no firearm violation case.
Suspect was caught hunting smoking cannabis with family rifle. Rifle returned to original owner after paper work , Suspect charged with cannabis , no firearm violation..

Suspect caught with Oz marijuana , Legal gun, ccw license. no gun violation.

Suspect caught with a joint , illegal firearm. < you going to jail!!

Im not going to make a 100 case here, but you get the idea..

It shouldn't even be optional. Weed dealers normally don't need to make a show of force, and even if you get robbed it's not going to make a difference because the person doing the robbing is going to be the one to pull their weapon first.

On top of that even if you don't get busted with your gun, the prosecution is going to know you own a gun(well if you got it legally) and it doesn't help the character part of your case.(I.e. the prosecutor, judge, jury, any person there's a 50/50 chance they at one time smoked weed and most of them don't remember their dealers packing heat)

And I love guns. But if you're selling weed, don't own guns.

Also I'd say love of money is what ruins dealers who love it too much. The more weight you move generally the larger your chances of being busted become. It's a question of whether you want to someone who happens to deal weed, or a drug dealer.

One practical thing I recommend, get a bike. Really if you're going to deliver weed to someone or going to pick up weed hop on it. When was the last time you saw someone pulled over on a bike.
