There's lots of excitement right now over the Elections happening this week in the US and elsewhere. As of now it appears Socialist Mamdani will be the next mayor of New York City! In the last 24 hours of his campaign he was spotted at the Brooklyn Marathon giving selfies with the runners, at a Knicks game, then he showed up at 5 different gay bars after midnight! First for a Mayoral candidate. In The Netherlands, it looks like the Progressive Democrat D66 party is set to kick the rightwing racist Wilders out of power as his party lost 11 seats. The D66 party is lead by an out gay man set to marry an Argentine Olympian. Young people are out voting like never before. They are feeling the effects of rightwing parties and swinging left after a brief but disappointing fling with the right. Welcome to the Resistance, everyone! We've been resisting Right-wing policies since the 1960s.
In California, voters are expected to pass prop 50, which jerrymanders 5 Republican districts into Democrat. My district, which is Democrat, would now have more Republican voters. Im not sure that's a good thing as there are enough conservatives here already. It's supposed to be temporary, but will affect the next election.
Tonight was a complete DEMOCRATIC SWEEP! Dems won all the important races by large margins! 9 point win for Democrat Mamdani as NYC mayor. Governors of NJ and Virginia are now both female Democrats, winning by more than 12%! Prop 50 passes in California, taking away 5 Republican districts and handing them to Democrats. So reasons to celebrate!!! Hasn't been this much good political news since Kirk died. Oh wait Dick Cheney was no saint either.
Th pendulum swings. Let's hope it carries on into 2026. Still surprises me as to how many dummies still vote republican!
At least it's good to see people out and voting.....2024 so many younger voters were like, 'neyhhh, I don't like either candidate, so I'm not going to bother voting'.....and look what we ended up with.
