Hello! Wasn’t sure where to ask this but figured I’d ask it here since this is for “Remembering when”?? Well, basically, maybe some “medical advice question”: I’m 34 years old and yes probably from the time I was 4, 5, 6 whenever is when my Dad/Mom started giving me “Flinstones Vitamins” as a child! But that’s my question: I’m 34 years old now and have recently just started using them again?? It says for Kids, they take 1 a day and for adults or something take 2 a day? If you do use any sort of “over the counter vitamins” whether it’s Kids Vitamins or Adult Vitamins: What brand do you use or what brand would you recommend as an adult for using Vitamins? Or Do you personally prefer to use the “Flinstones Kids Vitamins” over the adult ones? Me personally, I look for Vitamin A and Vitamin C! So I guess basically my question would come down to: As an adult 30s or older, would it make any sort of difference to still use Kids Vitamins? Or would it be time to switch to a different “Adult Vitamin” brand?? Thank you
Flintstones vitamins are formulated primarily for children, but adults can take them as well. However, they may not provide all the nutrients an adult needs. Here’s what to consider: Potential Benefits for Adults Basic Vitamin and Mineral Support: They contain essential vitamins like A, C, D, and E, as well as some B vitamins and minerals like iron and zinc. Easy to Take: If you have difficulty swallowing pills, chewable vitamins like Flintstones can be a convenient option. Better Than Nothing: If your diet is lacking in certain nutrients, taking Flintstones vitamins may help cover some deficiencies. Limitations for Adults Lower Dosages: The vitamin and mineral content is tailored for children, meaning it may be too low to meet an adult’s daily needs. Missing Key Nutrients: They often lack higher amounts of calcium, magnesium, and certain B vitamins that adults typically need more of. Artificial Sweeteners & Additives: Some formulas contain sweeteners and dyes, which might not be ideal for everyone. Final Verdict While Flintstones vitamins won’t harm an adult, they aren’t the best choice for full nutritional support. A multivitamin designed for adults would be a better option for meeting daily nutritional requirements. If it's about them being flavored and chewable, there are plenty of vitamins on hte market that are age appropriate that are chewable and even gummies. You just need to do a bit of research.
Exactly. The only exception can be vitamin C. It breaks down in your system within about 24 hours and even if you eat fresh vegetables daily, it is destroyed by cooking. Some methods used during storage between the farm and the shop can also break it down. A tub of 50mg tablets is handy for such occasions, I only take a couple of tablets within a month. High strength 500mg, are useful for the first 2 days when you have a cold, particularly a sore throat. At any other time along with 1000mg, those with an orange flavor and the fizzy ones that cost a fortune are pointless and a complete waste of money. Needless to say, if you are unwell and you DOCTOR prescribes certain supplementary vitamins, you should take them. A visit to the pharmacy does nothing except reduce the weight of your wallet.
Yes, but as you age, you may find that a good diet is not enough to sustain you and vitamin supplements may be necessary. Like Bette Davis said, "Old age ain't no place for sissies," The older you get the less you can absorb certain nutrients. Of course Vitamin C is always one that need replenishing, but Calcium absorption wanes after a while. You may also need to supplement Iron, Vitamin D, and B-12, E and K, along with others. It's difficult for me to swallow large tablets, Centrum has a Men's 50+ Gummy hat I buy.
