1) you did *not* put in the correct amount of oil. I had to fill it, and you had *not more* than 1/2.. i was blown away by that.

2) if you had read the manual, which you obviously didn't, you would have seen it said to make sure the engine oil was *to the fill limit*, with a ***picture***
so you admit you didn't read the manual.

odd that you would show me the fill point, fill it to where you said the fill point was, & then claim to put in *less* than the fill point, when you were then filling it to the fill point...

Blue, I left there quite some time ago.
Things may or may not have changed there for all I know but from what I'm reading it doesn't seem as if the main tool in Sam's Shed has gotten any sharper in my absence.
But Hell by all means, investigate, a week or weekend wont hurt, it will be a vacation and hell you just may like the place provided you dont bring any ideas of your own, just go to tow the lines laid out for you in tiny circles and you'll get along fine.
Short of an accident of some sort it's not like they're going to hurt you, they'll just try to bleed from you what they can get, lucky for me I didn't have any shit to loose from when I got there to when I left. (This is why I think theres such contention going on in this thread, they weren't used to getting a taste of what they served?)

And John, the Oil sits at the bottom of the engine when it's not running, and when it's a new engine all the internal components are dry.
Now can you possibly Imagine why after starting the motor up for the first time the oil level might be a good bit lower than prior to starting it?

I'll give you a hint,,, it's because EVERYTHING in the Engine is now all coated in oil,,, meaning theres less Oil available to fill the reservoir than what was initially put in the Dry block as some of it is now clinging to the other metal parts & nooks and crannies it didn't come in contact with upon filling it the first time and you know lubing the freaking engine suddenly.
It's called "priming" and after a bit of running for the first time, you stop the motor and add a bit more Oil to top it off. I mean I know electromechanical shit is like Wizards, Pixie dust & Magic to you but it's really not that tricky,,,

since last seeing you i have been to colorado & back to VA, to look at a bus (see my flickr site)purchased a veggie oil van & veggie oil bus, done the conversion (see site again), circumnavigated the US twice and am finishing a 9,400 mile road trip in my fucking van from VA up to Prince Rupert, British Columbia, *plus* a stink in alberta, PLUS two road trips from VA to Michigan...

oh yeah.. PLUS *another * roadtrip out to colorado with a crew of 5 & back, last august, trying to do some dome building..
i fed them, drove them & helped set their project up for them..

ALL ON MY OWN PENNY, giving rides where i can & helping people out with a fucking dollar here & there...

these are hard miles, too.. no reliable heat in the van, & everything i drive is so fucking screwed to hell that i imagine it could be impounded if any cop got it into their head...

i crossed the goddamned border 4 fucking times in a rig with screw-holes & roofing cement, plywood & polyurethane drippings still adhered to the side, & full of my essentially worthless fucking personal shit.

i've done most of this alone, i do my own repairs, i don't spange or jug (although the kids in the colorado crew did, which was really, really cool, & i bless them for it.. thanks, zack.. thanks eldon.. thanks, nicole..)

& i *still* help my friends...

so go get a bus & get on the road & stop pissing & moaning...

this is a remote, off-grid piece of property, and sam CHOOSE it to be that way... THAT is how we try to deal with problems that the world may precipitate for itself.. we're far enough away that if shit hits the fan it won't cover us so deeply as if we were nearer to civilization..

as has been said, many, many times... THERE IS NOTHING HERE...

there is one gas station 4 miles away, & the nearest town is 15.
The nearest department store, after that, is about 30 miles away.

Everyone who bitches about this place **STAYED HERE**, apparantly not because they WANTED to, but because they had nowhere else to go.

what you didn't know, though, & this was the big suprise, is just how much fucking WORK it was to keep going in this goddamned fucking hellhole..

it is NOT easy.

Let me tell you what sucked, & let me tell you the way i personally worked, & *then* you'll understand why i get so pissy about these weenies who complain about how fucking unfair the farm is...

# 1) I was up effectively EVERY FUCKING MORNING making breakfast..
i would wake around 6:30, hot or cold, drag my ass out of bed, stoke or start the fire & then prep the food & coffee...
by 7:30 or 8, breakfast was ready but most of the shits here whom complain were still in bed, and if they came out by 10:00 it would be an early day for them..
2) AFTER fucking breakfast i would begin splitting wood AND would start a separate fire for the 5 gallon hot water pot, so that people would have bath water for the morning, or dishwater, *if* they decided they were going to fulfill their turn..
3) by now it is about 10:00 & the NEXT thing i do is equipment work.. on & off throughout the day, but generally a big part of it
4) help others with *their* chores.. make sure they have what they need, make sure tools are available, etc.
5) take people to get things they need, when reasonable

my day at the farm usually ran a *minimum* of 6 hours of work, generally about 8 hours, and very, very often about 12.

now.. that was *my* choice, for good or bad, and i never expected anyone to put out like that, time *OR* moneywise, because that would be an unfair expectation.

what these assholes *don't* mention is how much i worked to make their life more comfortable than it would have been & how much of my own bread i spent to make sure they a little extra in the way of minor luxuries.

i don't have anymore time for this bullshit, really.

if you're expecting something fluffy, stay away..

the fact of the matter is that other than andy, **who would still be at the farm, had he not had a child to raise** (the farm is presently NOT for infants!!!) i am the single most hardest working motherfucker she has ever had there, and guess what???

i'm still there on occasion!!!

that speaks fucking volumes.

if you're lazy, if you can't get your ass out of bed by 9:00 AM, if you can't do your assigned fucking FARM chores on a regular basis, if you're going to drink yourself to the point of stupor, if you want to use any controlled substances, etc. etc. etc.. PLEASE..

STAY THE FUCK AWAY!

hopefully that IS hostile enough to give you a hint about how we feel about leeches or the deranged of *any* stripe.. tied-dyed, militants, religious fanatics, alcoholics, addicts, etc. etc. etc..

you've already cost way too fucking much & done way too much damage by taking out of the farm what it can't easily replace.

good working hippies, woofers, travelers or others whom are satisfied with existence at the near subsistence level are welcome.

no fucking internet junkies, no gamer junkies, no tv junkies, no fucking i-phone junkies, either...

their isn't enough electricity to keep you going, so just go elsewhere, ok?

if you like HORSES (well. one.. old ms. penny), CHICKENS & TURKEYS (& a goose), running ***completely free**, DONKEYS (2), DOGS (3 at last count), and cats (4?), and if you can not whine & complain about living about 1 or 2 steps up from being in a tent & having to break your ass to do it...

then guess what???
