Ok. So the other day I was thinking. Mostly about how time gets all fucked up when you trip. For me, minutes turn into hours, and hours turn into days. It's not agonizing though. It goes by reasonably. I don't literally mean that hours turn into days, but my mind is going so fast making so many revaltations. Maybe tripping is like packing months if not days into smaller ammounts of time. Therefore making your mind much wiser then you're years give you credit for. IMO, it give you the ability to think about things and come to conclusions that might otherwise have taken you years to come to...does anyone buy into this?

That sounds a lot like my mind. I get this effect from LSD and magic mushrooms as well. My mind is just thinking about anything and everything. I think it's a cool feeling... It makes you more spontaneous lol!

Seriously though, I think any kind of experience can potentially "mature" you beyond where you might have been otherwise. Drugs can do it, but so can sex, music, adversity, vicarious experiences of others. Use the tools right, but keep moving and don't get stuck in the thrill of the moment. Constantly re-evaluate.

    Or don't.

I dont think it condenses time but rather you do literally step out of time and get a more overall look of 'time' as like a hyperdimensional object your looking down upon.

i mean its a fucked up concept. how could you know my brain is fried? just because i said something you dont quite understand.

let me put it into simpler terms. acid gives you the ability to step back and take a look at yourself. but it also give me the ability to think about whats really going on. this is shit that some people wont ever get in just one lifetime.

true, but it is not as sweet a deal as you might think.

enough psychedelic use will bring you to a place that is difficult for others to understand. i found as long as you don't tell people that you use LSD you are ok. as soon as certain people know about your use they apply all their misconceptions about LSD against you. then you have the obligation of proving them wrong which is not easy. you can say the most incredible things and people won't even notice because it went over their head, and ya ok, your the one who is crazy, sure. people can only understand their own level of awareness, it is difficult to understand what you can't see yourself.

sure, using LSD can leave you wise beyond your years but make sure you realize that you will put yourself into a place that has certain obligations and although i wouldn't change a thing, looking back now i was not expecting my drug use would cause me so many problems in life. not what it did to me or my body but what it did to the people that could have been better friends, family members or lovers. stick with your own kind and you will be fine. keep your family at a distance when it comes to your drug use (unless they are cool) and beware of inexperienced and down right evil girl friends.

I guess it depends on what you mean by get. You can't make time travel slower, it is true. You can alter your perception of time though either through imbibing various substances or through mental discipline so that it seems to you as though a longer period of time has passed.

You can also accellerate time if you can accellerate yourself to a high fraction of the speed of light. Granted that is from one perspectively only (yours) where days may pass for you but years pass for someone watching you objectively.

i think LSD wakes you up all the way for a little bit.

you realize there are so many connotations to things that before you hadn't realize. things gain a weight, which before, was totally invisible.

    :)

    "time is an illusion.
    lunch time, doubly so."

i think of tripping as something everyone is doing all the time... we're all on some kind of trip, you can call it a paradigm or zeitgeist or perspective or assumption or whatever... but everyone's on some kind of trip. i think of it as a spiral kind of thing. and when we "trip", we stop spinning around on our old spiral and suddenly find ourselves traveling on a completely different level. i don't mean level in any sense of value, i just mean, we're on a different step in the staircase and we didn't get there by walking from where we were so we're "tripped out". you don't notice where you're going when you're really tripping, as in, doing what you're doing without realizing you're doing it because you couldn't be doing anything else. you're always Here, remembering where you were a second ago, seeing where you're about to be. nothing's shocking. but then something happens, you get hit by a car, or your sister dies, you hear a mind blowing song, you eat some lsd, and suddenly you're somewhere new and you have no idea what's behind you, and are seeing what's ahead for the first time. if we measure the time we've spent by the distance we've traveled and suddenly skip forward (since it's all circular, wherever you end up, you skipped forward, because it's impossible to go back), well, yeah, we'll probably think of it as warping time somehow.

but i don't think it has anything to do with wisdom. i'm not sure i believe in wisdom... at least, i don't think i believe that any person is any more wise than any other.

everything you learn on LSD you arlady knew...

It just remained hiddened in the chasms of your mind, and LSD was a catylst which brought it to the surface in a visual construct laid out for you to see.

When people say, LSD gave me the answers...thats not correct. It's a chemical not a book. It lets you explore you psych and look at things which are so engrained into your conscienceness that you dont realize it as a startling revelation.

A book is a chemical. So is sex and music. All these things are 'answers'. And answers are just questions!

    I agree

Doubt is the beginning, not the end, of wisdom.

i like some of the things you guys are saying. i dont believe certain people are anymore wise then others, but there definitely are people that are more aware. people that have a higher/lower level of awareness. so i guess that brings up the question that if someone is more aware doesnt that mean they are more wise for realizing. it all depends on how you operationalize intelligence.

wisdom comes from experience. the more experience you have the more wisdom you possess.

a very simple way to look at it might help you understand. you don't know how to do something well until you have had enough experience. the more experience you have with something the better you understand it and thus the more wisdom you possess.

your statement lacks wisdom. you lack experience with such things maybe.

people are better at things. some people understand more than others. some people are more wise than others. it is true, very true.

wisdom is what tells us not to do something because it will be a mistake. why do we know it is a mistake? because we have already learned that lesson. some people have not learned that lesson YET and there for are not as wise. it is not that anyone is any better in the big picture, it is just that some of us are further along down different paths than others. all paths eventually lead to the same place.

we learn our lessons by the mistakes we make. sometimes we are fortunate enough to learn vicariously through others mistakes and other times we are open enough to learn through the lessons or stories of people we know. what ever way you look at it, it is all the same. some of us have already learned the same lessons that others are still learning. others will make mistakes that i will never make again this life because i have already learned them.

to say that no one is more wise than any one else is very wrong. honestly i don't think you understand what wisdom is.
