a Million vs. a Billion

As many times as you've heard those two words, do you have a realization of how many 'singles' each one of them represent?

A million seconds = 11 days

A billion seconds = 30 years.

one day that information is going to come in handy for me, gosh darn it.

 

Almost all mammals live for about a billion ticks of their heart, so that their life reflcts their metabolism. Things with slow metabolisms like turtles live long lives, while things like bats, with fast metabolisms, live very short lives.

But humans live much longer now about two and a half ticks of the heart, most of this extention was during the 20th century, all thanks to science.

The metabolic life span rule only really applies to things of different species of animals.

Not the same species, you'll probably outlive a fat guy. You never know though. ​

 

what about those creatures that dont have a heart?

I think that rule applies mostly to mammals, birds, and reptiles.

I don't even if the billion ticks of the heart thing is true, its just something I heard on the discovery channel.
