Thats right. After prolonged research into the current state of the families experiments in social design, I have begun working dillegentlly on initiating a new communal design. I expect it to be ready for the family to use in approximately 14 months. Funding is in line, and construction is planned to begin this summer... The basic Idealogy of our group is Egalitarian. We follow the principles of the Rainbow Family in our daily lives, and want to create a stimulating environment in which hundreds can experience the same feeling every day. Possibley thousands by the end of my lifetime. The plan is to be totally independent from the outside world in such a way that it is clear to the community that they need/want us much more than we need them. Through tactical tax workings, Green Cross Landing will be almost completeley paid for. The commune will be funded by Green Cross, a LLC in Washington State. The companies motto is 'Working for a Greener world.'. The broad application of the motto allows the company to delve into many forms of business. Especially the growing and selling of medicinal marijuana. As the law stands currently in Washington (there are some challenges in the works right now) companies canot sell ganja like in California. It can be sold to our one co-op; legally it is unclear wether or not a LLC or any other form of business can sell. However, there are grand plans for when the law becomes more broad in Washington. If you are a medicinal marijuana patient and are interested in a commune, we strongly suggest you come visit us when you are ready. Green Cross is also into several other lucrative busineses. We work extensiveley in the lawn care field in our area and have a small seed growing/plant growing operations. I am so glad I was blessed to have all of this fall into place so niceley. Plans are in the works to get temporary housing up before spring 2009, but they are very vague, and likeley will not match the capacity I intend. Think of it- all of our expenses to run the business can/are written off on taxes. The grow lights, the electricity, the morgtage, the interest on the morgtage, the truck, the mileage, the insurance. 'Employee' healthcare (we are working on dont have it yet, but I am positive it will be in place within the coming months)... employee IRA's, or other types of pansion funds. Also, we pay into medicare, LNI, and Social Security. Currently we have three partners who own the LLC and two employees. The other two people involved in ownership work extensiveley in the business, as do I. I am aware that these things cant be written off in a land trust type situation, but there is a grander plan involving the construction of an RV/Trailer park to fund the commune. As soon as I can (andd we develop them/it more fully) I will post expectations, work regulations, housing information, etc about Green Cross Landing... especially the process you will have to go through to get welcomed home. Right now we envision a three week screening process before you are allowed to stay more than three months at the Landing... after that it will take you living at the Landing for at least two/thirds of a full calender year before you can be considered for membership in the land trust/LLC. Love and Light. Please share any and all thoughts you have.
Explain this whole tax-juggling, it seems almost unreal to me. You are either a legal expert or I'm missing something. How can you be independent from the outside world if ALL of your business ventures deal with the outside world? You can't be independent if you depend on their demand for ur work. Ultimately it seems to me like you're just a business that found a awsome kink in the system. Where does initial funding come from? Startup costs? Infrastructure? What are some of your goals or principles? Food? Energy Independence? Are all of the employee's basic needs easily met (no 40 hour work week) within the closed system of the commune? Plus, an egalitarian system becomes grossly inefficient the more you need to specialize. You need people to specialize in certain tasks instead of having everyone try to be a part of everything. If you plan to go in any long-distance direction I'd fear that egalitarianism would be grossly ineffective.
Incredible. I've never agreed with you before. If only you shared my hatred of efficiency and progress, we'd be on the same page. To the OP: I actually don't agree that this is the path to an egalitarian society. I recommend James Woodburn's "Egalitarian Societies". And I'm sorry that I'm too tired to provide a decent summary, but it's a work of anthropology that discusses how hunter-gatherer groups have many common traits that enforce a high degree of egalitarianism. Very god read.
Dude, why hate efficiency and progress? That is the nature of nature man, go with the flow!!! *And to the OP* How is lawn-care service supposed to to create a wholesome way of life? To me, that's like making boutique gifts are selling flowers to rich specialty markets. I'm still confused as to the true purpose of this commune.
i forsee a future of ever advancing technology getting along just fine without oil, coal, the automobile, corporate economics, political or economic super powers. the means exist. the need exists. only blind emotional attachment to familiar ignorance is holding it back. solar power, narrowgauge railways, indigenous spirituality and an end to economic and ideological prejudice ought to do the job. actual creative landscape design is a good thing certainly. with lowered resource demand and natural like diversity. lawns on the other paw, are seriously none of these things. even environmentally a seriously not good idea. there ARE some self destructive emotional and egotistical attachments dominant cultures are going to have to get over before all this can be realized on a dominant scale, rather then merely a demonstration curiosity that people look whistfully at, saying to themselves, that looks really cool, but not something most of them would be interested in even learning more about even how it would be possible. and you know, that's the real problem. again one that will be solved over time. by many and various converging factors forcing change. a little less ego and a long hard road could be made much shorter and easier.
So, on Dec 1, 2009 the original post is made, including this; I'll make a guess and say this plan failed... roflmao
Actually I have been really busy gettimg the finanaces set up. We bought a location and have 4 people living here. Just got the internet up today. No new members as of yet.
