How easy is it for you to get a Green Card? It's near impossible for most people. I'm pretty sure you can live in the US at 17 if you have a legal guardian.
So my parents have to appoint someone as my legal guardian? Well, you can get a Green Card right away if you marry a US Citizen. Otherwise, it'll take years, yeah.
Yes... and if you have no reason to enter the US (school, work)... or unless you're visiting family, or coming in as a tourist... you cannot even get a Visa... especially not a Greencard.
Well, you can't enroll in a high school, I meant college by "school". You can go to the US on some exchange program, but yet again... that will only get you a student visa, which won't last a second more than the time you're supposed to be in the exchange program.
You can't get married until you are 18. Plus... (at least as far as I know) if you marry someone. You 1) Have to prove that you live together for 2 years 2) Have to show that your spouse (or her family) is financially responsible for you for those 2 years 3) You have to have inspectors come to your house, have shared bills, maybe even a shared bank account 4) It's set up that you either have to have money to pull this off, or actually live together with a person.
Why do you want to move to the states anyway? Trust me, it's seriously over-rated here. The world doesn't need anymore fat, ignorant people.
Whoa! Are you sure about all that stuff? Here's something I got from Wikipedia: But that makes no sense. I have to get married to a US citizen before coming to the US?
You could also get engaged while still living abroad and your "fiance" can petition to let you into the country, but that's a whole nother process consisting of more proving to people that you actually are a couple. And just so you know, wiki is edited by the public, so technically anyone could post any bullshit they want and it will stay there until corrected by another user. Check out a government website. And just so you know, my mom is a US diplomat, she deals with this kind of stuff all the time, and Pavel is right (for once
I know a few people who have immigrated here and I know that for the one family it was very tough for them to get everything in order http://immigration.about.com/b/a/192108.htm
Why are people answering a legal question here? It's not too cool. And more importantly, why does that picture show a person holding a gun to its temple? It's not too cool.
Like I said, 17 year old Jimbo fan... Wiki says what I said... you need an excuse for a visa, You ain't go one. Plus, the Greencard line is probably more than 10 years for British citizens as it is... It's like 130 for Mexicans Because some people might actually know something about this. I've investigated these same quetions... With a lawyer.
Just come here and lay low if you must. Get an under the table job. The first rule of America: There are no rules!
