    Hey all.

I was thinking of trying absinthe, and was just doing some research. I found out that it's legal here in Canada, but most brands sold here contain extremely low levels of Thujone.
I checked out the website of a brand of Absinthe sold in Canada, and it said that it contained 10mg per kg of Thujone.
Should that be enough, or would I throw up and or pass out from the alcohol before getting anything out of the Thujone?

Also, I was wondering if anyone would care to share their experiences with absinthe.
If anyone has any general tips or advice, that would also be welcome and appreciated.

    Thanks!

EDIT: I was also wondering if anyone knew of a good reliable website where I could order some decent absinthe. Preferably on the cheap side, but if the only good stuff available is pricey, so be it.;)

Eh.....not to let you guys have all the fun - anybody know if it can be "had" in the US, or do I have to travel halfway 'round the fuckin' globe justs so's I can try it? I read about it in the 70's in a High Times article and have been wanting to take it for a test drive ever since.

    Would appreciate any leads.

Does absinthe really have psychedelic properties...or is that a bunk myth?

You feel more than the alcohal, but it is not really psychedelic. It feels more like a mellow weed and gin buzz, with out the negative efects of mixing weed and hard liquor. However, the main intoxicating effect is definitely the alcohal.

I have tried several brands of Absinthe with varied results. I think the overall psychedelic properites are vastly overrated. You would need to have quite the high alcohol tolerance to experience anything remotely colorful before becoming overly intoxicated from the HIGH booze content. Luckily (for this purpose only unfortunately) I have a high tolerance for alcohol and was able to ingest quite a bit of a reputably high thujone content absinthe without the awe inspiring visions that some would have you believe. Perhaps it was my expectation set, perhaps it is over glorified hype, perhaps I am immune to the green fairy's enchantments..perhaps perhaps perhaps..meh

For me, even wormwood extracts were relatively mild at best, slight visual effects but nothing over the top as some would expect with some very negative physical side effects as well...
