Well just looking for advice on my natty's. i seem to be the only one in my area with them so im lookin here for a bit of help ^_^ my hair was botu 20" b4 dreading, and was perfectly straight hair. here they are say bout 3 weeks old, i wash them say 2 tiems a week at most amd occasionaly a sea salt spay im a guy who can wait for eva for my locks to grow but how long is it b4 they shud start locking, as they very soft lose n frizzy?? laso have a few bands in still to help keep roots tight which i cahnge regulary so they wont meld in ^^ thnks for all ur help and info how they look idividualy
take the elastic bands out anyway dude, your roots wont be able to knot up if they cant move other than that they're looking good!
straight hair typically takes longer to lock than curly... but it will happen. you'll notice that those will change a LOT over the next few months. Prepare for the inevitable loops, loose hairs, and with backcombed locks, feeling like they all came loose. It's all normal. ... and definitely take out those bands.
how long till they start locking? well sure looks like they started nicely already tightness takes time though.. they really start to mature about 10 months or so in..they should be fairly tight by then, what did u do & use before this stage besides the salt sprays & washin fairly regularly (and the bands) just a thought, if when u takethe bands out u find em fallin apart a bit..which i doubt since they seem to be well formed, but if they do, a bead or peyote stitch will hold em in place but still alow the dreadin process they do look like theyrewell on theyre way tho
basicly backcombed to form then and i tried to use as lil wax as possible but other than palm rolling i leave em be as i generaly dnt want to have perfect round. i still need to get some beads but overall i thnk i got 1 problem lock at mo ^^ but a bead will help it like u say much love to all you natty hero's of mine ^^
frizz is normal, so don't fret. i never used bands on mine and they turned out just fine. i never used wax but i used to use this mango/lime gel found at www.rastagroup.com. you may be able to find it at your local beauty supply store. it's got mango, lime, aloe, passionfruit, cactus water in it and smells great. if you are interested in any type of maintenance, i posted up a "crochet demo" thread, for those who want to crochet loose hairs, but don't know how. my time line is also posted in my thread as well. god luck to you!
other than the original backcombing i thnk ill just go negelct as they do apear to be doin ok by them selvs
