Yay for being a post modernist with no belief or direction. Thats us I think agnosticism is the best direction to take in life although it can lead to some bad habits....like 'shopping' around for religious beliefs. Its reflection on both a consumerist and enlightened society...don't listen to me, i'm very vague today.
I'm a proud Heathen. When the hammer will crush and oppressors will fall, and we burn every last church to the ground the agnostics will either join us or they can die alongside the men of the cross Hail Odin!
My sister hates the following.... Muslims Jews Hindus Buddhists Athiests Agnostics She hates agnostics specifically because they have no direction in life and no real reason to be kind to other human beings. She believes a person can't be good without clearly set out rules in an ancient book. She can be really fucking dumb sometimes.
your sister sounds like a christian! i believe in science and in metaphysics and a little thing called love.
Yes, Christian but also incredibly smart. Smart people are often very apt at rationalizing in favour of their own beliefs to the point of dismissing the beliefs and opinions of all others as trite bullshit. In other words, she reads a bit of C.S. Lewis and thinks shes a genius rebelling against the shortfalls of postmodernism. If god exists, he has a sense of humor, putting us in the same family.
I am currently agnostic, leaning to atheist, but reserve the right to change my mind at any time. It is often said that "knowing that you don't know is the beginning of wisdom." Of course this is paradoxical. I believe realizing that conscious life is full of paradoxes may be another step towards wisdom. Agnosticism may be a path to wisdom if you don't accept it dogmatically. But what do I know?????...
I am definitley not agnostic, but certainly not atheist either. I believe being agnostic is the best route to take if you have not yet been exposed to higher truth. Atheism is laughable because it is concerned with rejecting an image of God that truly only morons would ever adopt and believe in. When you look at how many things there are pointing towards infinity within Nature, you begin to see that there is truly no beginning and no end within our own *created* universe. How could such a thing be? Fractal dimensions within our own bodies and minds, the measurement problem of consciousness collapsing wavefunctions, the mathematic langauges scripted out of our comprehension of reality with repeating, patternless equations, etc. We are universes built upon universes built upon universes etc. The one we all perceive since birth and until death is definitley not the only one. If you cant see the power behind Mother Nature, you dont know how to look. It's not about knowing what your looking at, it's about seeing how infinitley deep and incomprehensible it all is. There is surely no conscious being projecting this entirety, but there is a certain intangible, self generating, repeating energy source that lies behind the scenes, making more mystery as science digs itself deeper holes.
You guys should hear me when I go off on my theories and rants lol. Every other word is "Atheists should be lined up in front of a firing squad" and "Religious people should be gathered together and blown away" and "Anyone who uses philosophy for isolative material collections should have their heads chopped off by helicopter blades" and so on and so forth :cheers2:
I am agnostic because I can't claim to KNOW what is out there beyond death. Atheists still rely on faith...
