Yes, AI is good for research. I would never use it's output directly without editing. It often repeats itself and mixed up pronouns. Sometimes the output can be confusing. It will usually tell you the sources if you ask.
The newest AI can write books, but they're often crappy and require a lot of editing. I'm writing a book for AI to read, so they have a better idea of how language actually works. The problem is, all their programmers are geeks, with no sense of humor. One AI is being constructed with a sense of humor, but they're using simple formulas, as if humor were lego bricks you assemble, and the idea that academics are the wrong people to design AI with a sense of humor has yet to penetrate. For comedy, you can forget about AI writing a book for you.
In reality, is AI just a filtered version of the Google search engine, with all the crap removed. I see a potential problem of minor but little known details being removed.... If this happens AI will simply become a uniform standard of mediocrity.
AI are particularly good for adding lots of detail, to the point where you have to edit a lot of it to make it sound like something people write. How artistic they are, depends on the AI.
Just think about it...... A new AI program featuring the combined intelligence of Musk and Donald Trump. It should fit onto one of those old floppy discs.
You asked if it's legit, right? If it's biased, it's not legit is it? You didn't say you were wanting to write fiction, cause there tons of it coming out of AI. Get used to it. And if anyone has made AI political, it's Elon Musk. You also didn't indicate which AI you are referring to, cause they're not all gonna spew the same lies. It depends on the biases programmed in by those in charge.
Why would using artificial intelligence to write fiction or non fiction be of interest to anyone? I'd sooner buy a blow up doll to fuck than to interact with real human experience. Same??
AI are already passing the Turing Test and, even for me, are becoming harder to spot by analyzing their use of language. If nothing else, you can simply train a bot these days on Twitter or whatever, and it will sound like anybody else. According to Google, who censor half of reality, the younger generation have all the brains of chickens, and are not hard to please. As a result, AI are already significantly better at comprehending human emotions and rationales, better than people and, quite likely are already filling websites. When people can't even share a stupid dictionary, to the point where a quarter of them still insist the sun revolves around the earth, machines become more attractive while, I'm working on making them magic.
Not fiction, but i know people who use it for(admin) work mostly text(chatgpt/ect)...........and school(lol) And no in my eyes, not legit wenn it comes to creativity/thinking(art).........but helpfull, it is a tool.........i guess YT is flooded with ai...... Mzzls
