Im new. This is my first post so ill try not to waste anyones time. Currently i am having trouble setting up an air flow system. Im scheduled to grow semi-modestly.(18 plants 2 lights) Soil or rockwool. But thats not whats important i think as pertaining to the subject. The problemos is as follows. Ive done some research. But the instructions to setting up a ventillation system have been grainy at best. Maybe its im a dork. But i keep scratching my head. Can someone confirm the following. My growing space is 500 sft. Is it possible to have good air flow without a window? Do i need two fans? one centerfugal to suck cool air in. and one exhaust fan to push warm air out? Sorry im lost about the differance between the difference between exhasut fans and centerfugal fans =/ The last thing is can i suck the cool air in from a room next door? say for istance by going through the ceiling? and vent hot air into the same room im sucking cool air out of? if anyone has any of the following answers or would like to share their experience in setting up their own air flow system it would be very helpfull. thanks!
I concur, 500 sq/ft is more than 20' x 20'. see this thread for more info: http://hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158714 You need either the intake or exhaust to be hooked up to the outside, or at least a different room. If they're both in the same room you're just re-circulating CO2-depleted air.
One could grow that many in 25 sqft. w/1 light. But as to your Q. the best intake comes from outdoors, 'cause it's freeeeeesh, it contains Co2 (enough that one might not have to add Co2 manually, and the O2 (for roots) is replenished. Exhaust should be as far from intake as possible( to keep from recycling used air.
