I went to one yesterday and it was dope. Always love a good airshow. Shame the people I went with only went to get drunk.
I used to go to them all the time when I was in the Air Force. Then I saw the Italian flying team Frecce Tricolori crash into a crowd of people at Ramstein AB, Germany in 1988. Seventy people died. Don't do it anymore.
I have been to several, mostly when I was a kid. My dad has always been an airplane fanatic (he was a mechanic in the Air Force back in the early 70s), so I used to go to airshows all the time with him. I remember getting lost at the Dayton airshow in '87. That was fun.
Several when I was in C.A.P. I even got to see the first Russian fighters land on US soil along with the USSR pleader at the time Gorbechev (spelling) in Everett WA. Actually got to see it happen 2 times. Once when he was suppose to land and another when he made an error and went there for the 2nd time that created a major issue resulting in several of our fighters being scrambled a brief airial display of fighters chasing each other around and the emergency alerts being sounded for fear that somebody might fire. Oh the good old cold war days, lol
On the final day of last year's Hillsboro Airshow, a plane went down into a neighborhood a halfmile away from me. It demolished a house, but no one was in it, and only the pilot was killed.
I go to the Dayton airshows just about every year, but only because I get to be in a VIP tent that is catered, with air conditioning. The Dayton airshows are generally a big deal I guess, and they are pretty fun to watch, but it is usually really hot and sunny out.
I love watching an F-18 walk the dog....just a bunch of controlled stalls that make a jet appear to float.... but I aint seen an airshow 'cept the flyoff one on a boat det one since I joined the Navy, The prep fer the show, I seen that, hell I launched that.......
I've only been to a few in my life, but I enjoyed them. Actually, I don't tend to go simply because I live very near a municipal airport and I can literally look up from my backyard and see the planes practicing in the coming weeks before the shows. I love it.
I can always see them from my house because I live right by the airport. They're interesting to watch, but damn, they're so freaking loud. The Blue Angels have been in town all week practicing and having shows. I'm losing it.
I love watching the blue angels. They used ot fly on my birthday every year and I would want to watch them most of the time rather than have a b-day party.
I got to go behind the scenes and in a f117 stealth fighter with my grandpa at an air force show once. it was landed of course, but still it was pretty bad ass
I'm in Galway(Ireland) and once a year there's an air show and every year there's a big protest against the War show. It's because there's US war planes and bombers involved. When Fahrenheit 911 was showing in the cinema my friends and I went to see it but here and there the film was totally drowned out by the planes and when you're watching something about war it's pretty fucking unnerving.
