On Al-Qaeda Web Sites, Joy Over U.S. Crisis, Support for McCain

In language that was by turns mocking and ominous, the newest posting credited al-Qaeda with having lured Washington into a trap that had "exhausted its resources and bankrupted its economy."

"[A terrorist attack now] will push the Americans deliberately to vote for McCain so that he takes revenge for them against al-Qaeda," said the posting, attributed to Muhammad Haafid, a longtime contributor to the password-protected site. "Al-Qaeda then will succeed in exhausting America."

It seems pretty obvious why they would. The goal of their terrorism works best with someone like McCain in charge. It's not that they commit terrorism to try to hurt us with that one act, they do it to cause us to irrationally retaliate and to compromise our civil liberties so that we have nothing left to defend. Our retaliation against an unrelated country helps them recruit more terrorists and proves their accusations about the US.

The terrorist attacks on 9-11 had the effect of changing Iraq from a secular country opposed to Al-Qaeda into the opposite, costing us billions of dollars and 1000s of US lives to do that. It has also, rightly or wrongly, made us look like stupid war mongers to much of the world, and killers to parts of the world that value civilian Iraqi lives. They really know how to push our buttons, and know that it would be easier to rile up McCain and his administration than Obama's.

And many will fall for it and vote McCain, because he's the great war hero and he will protect them.

You can't believe anything you read these days because of the election process.

We already know Al Qaeda is just a tool like Osama was. Both have CIA connections.

To be honest, I'm pretty surprised the Washington Post published this article....it was really one guys opinion, not Al Qaeda's official stance or anything. But, it jived with my view on how Bush fell into the hands of Al Qaeda and did exactly what they wanted him to do...and more. I can believe that they would rather have McCain, but not necessarily that they said that. If they really wanted him, they'd probably be more quiet about it.

Also...I just noticed the link requires a registeration....sorry about that. (It didn't this morning).
