I want to make sure that it is ture that all the alcohol gets cooked out of rum cake when you eat it. I was just told, as I was eating the cake no less, that it does not. So yeah which is it?If it does not get cooked out how can you tell if you are drunk?
There is not enough rum in rum cake to even get a buzz. And yes, the alcohol is cooked off in the baking process anyway. Alcohol has a very low evaporation point.

I love rum cake... they make it extra rummish in Honduras and then pour a bunch of rum on it after it's cooked... for the drunk, ofcourse.
