whats with the white circle to the right of the earth

  4. The new earth. In which Obama will lead his followers to.

Jk, I think it's a photo error, if you click the pics that circle is non-existent on the painting..

    Oh my god. That's incredible.

But why did it go from being vibrant and colorful to being dulled down? On the website, I mean.

I really want a shirt with that painting on it. I love it.

Bleh, whatever. He's free to paint what he wants, but I don't think psychedelics and politics go very well together. If Alex Grey really thinks Obama is going to change anything except maybe improve slightly our international relations and take even more of our hard-earned money than Bush did, he is delusional.

He was most defiantly the winner of the biggest ass kissing contest in the world, and yes he was the first black guy to do it.

That painting makes him look like a cult leader.

Now who will be the first person to add "He IS a cult leader!" in an attempt to sound witty? :p

  11. You'd be the last person I'd expect to appreciate the painting for what it is, anyway.

Everyone is talking Obama down and he's not even in yet. He swayed America, they voted him in, they have spoken. Alex Grey (along with the rest of America) had a disliking for Bush, he even expresses it in a previous painting of his. So I see how Alex Grey, among any knowledgeable human being, can appreciate the change in presidency, especially a young, straight forward, black man. We've come a LONG way.

I see Mr. Greys vision in Obama as he shows it perfectly in the painting. America wants the change, Obama has the vision, this piece expresses it.

I didn't even vote, I'm just tired of the "cult" and stereotype BS. People really need to wake up and accept it. Such ignorance these days. At least give the man a chance.

    God bless.

P.S. Let's not make this a political debate, especially in the LSD section. Appreciate this thread for the artwork, not the system and it's ignorant modern-day slaves. Let's save that for another thread, shall we?

If Obama hasn't, can't, and won't actually change anything, then it's the same with Alex Grey. Just a politician. Just a painter.

Politics and psychedelics are completely interlocked.

    It's all about ideas.

I honestly feel really bad for all the people who can't see that... just because it's so beautiful.

I see the man behind the curtain Dorothy!...The Emperor has no clothes either.

It's about creating a perception, right?

Eh...thumbs down. Not his best and a rather poor subject at that. I like the more spiritual side to his work. Although, that is an excellent portrait of Obama.

You say not to judge him yet because he is yet to make changes in the government, but then come off as though he is the answer to all the worlds problems.

So I guess we may both be counting our chickens (or kidney stones depending on how you look at it) before they hatch.

The artwork I felt was cliche in the new age since. And a bit dull in my opinion.

Also the artist himself gives the impression that he already believes Obama will be the savior of the world.

    Baaaahhhh! Baaaahhhh!

this painting, to me, represents most of Grey's work, an obsession with the beauty captured in a single, unimportant blip on the number line of time.
Yes, it's wonderful, and yea, Obama is probably a chill guy to smoke a blunt with. But the totality of expression will never be captured, and no man is up to the job. Jesus was, but the bull is the most misunderstood bull to ever walk the face of the Earth.
So, smoke a blunt, drop a dose, drink a beer, whatever you got to do. In the end it's all Omazaing.
I like this painting no matter the momentum nor the distribution. But I also laugh when people die, so my opinion is windy to begin with

I like it ok but it's not one of Alex's best. I think Obama's an impressive person and the situation is very important with his election, but really, this "change" is in it's infancy.

What it makes me think is : what was Alex thinking painting this ? did he say to himself " well everyone that likes my work likes him so i bet if i painted this it would be well recieved? I wish I could see some of his work which departs from his typical presentation.

I really do appreciate and enjoy his work but to put it a little rudely , "it all looks the same"

hes made heaps of cool pictures, thats all we should expect from him.

as for obama.. well i think now is the time for everyone to start idealising what he can do.. so that people expect a lot from him in that sense. He has such space to make an amazing page in the history books. He also is probably a high target for assassination. So thats where his own personal dilemma resides, methinks.

Pictures like these are good because usually people dont have positive faith in their leaders from a 'soul' point of view.. obama has the chance to be the most loved man since jfk... will probably end with the same fate too.. but the world needs an ideal and selfless man of change in america's political media. and pictures like this, and other notions that follow it, are the sort of thing that can make obama build up enough pride to do things differently.

obama is both black and white.. hopefully america remembers this when they call him 'black'. but it also makes a lot more sense that he would have part whiteman in him if he has managed to get this far in the american politics. i hope ppl dont think that is racist in a bad way
