Alien vs predator

well I did a search and couldn't find any threads about this film, so I'm starting one.
anyone seen it?
for the record I thought it was pretty poor, not scary, bit boring and the predator teaming up with humans, come on give me a break!
the only good thing about it was that it was all explained no loose ends, but the film was so simple anyway it would have been difficult to have any- and I watched the extended version!
anyway thought I'd do a poll look up!

Actress Sanaa Lathan is really hot but the movie wasn't particularly good.

When I saw the name Dan O'Bannon as one of the screen writers, I figured the movie couldn't miss, but occassionally even great writers experience brain cramps.

also, when the temperature outside is -50 below zero wouldn't you expect to see the warm air (as it's being expelled from the mouth) immediately condense on contact.

I liked Sanaa lathan's charater all the rest where as flat as cardboard, have you noticed that Lance Henrikson is exactly the same no matter what he's in?

I'm not sure if I just didn't get it but the first predator film didn't do much for me, how would you sell it?
also am I right in thinking there are only two predator films, what do you think of the second one, as I started this thread I really should get it and watch it!

Hotwater I know this is a bit off the point, but have you seen Lance Henrikson in the millienium series couldn't get on with them at all, had the first season and gave up after 5 episodes sooooooo boring!

I liked Alien more than Predator, but I never saw Predator. I saw Alien vs Predator and thought it was a stupid movie.

Arnie? Wtf? I have no true desire to see Predator just because I don't want to see Ah-nold. Big turn-off from seeing the movie.

I probably love the first Predator movie for the same reason you don't. I love how it starts out like a normal movie where soldiers are on a mission in the jungle, then they throw an alien into the mix. It's great sci fi. Plus, I'm an Arnold fan. He's an action star if there ever was one.

I don't think Predator 2 is nearly as good as the first one, but it's ok. You're right, Alien vs Predator isn't nearly as violent as the others.

 

I am right in thinking that theres only two predator films yeah?

Yeah, only two. With all the shitty remakes coming out, they need to make a Predator 3. If they got a halfway decent script, then it could be a great movie.

I love the first 3 Alien movies (Ressurection sucked IMO) and I love the first Predator movie. I enjoyed Alien vs Predator mostly because it was a crossover. Like Freddy vs Jason, it wasn't a spectacular movie, but it was fun and had two major icons in it.

I voted for them all.

ive read very good reviews about predator the first one. I reckon that if it came out now it would not be so well regarded but when it came out it was probably the first of its kind.
I'm not very over keen on any films based heavily on the army. I know the alien films where but i think it didn't over power it so much

You misread. Remakes. As in Starsky and Hutch, Fat Albert... Hollywood running out of original ideas in general.

Yeah, the first half of Predator is like a war movie. That's understandable that you don't like movies based on the army. Do you just dislike modern wars? I have a friend who hates modern stuff, but aincent and future war stuff is ok.

 

I don't mind war movies espically ones that show the horror of them, its the macho army business and all the army talk that annoys me, like all the jokes about women that are in predator at the beginning.
you mentioned elm street I think earlier, I like films where theres some sympathy for the charaters and your rooting for them to live I think in predator I was pleased when they where being wiped out, its like 'ha ha not so tough now eh???!'

Wow it just dawned on me who Arnie is

 

I don't get you!

it occured to me that Alien vrs Pred might have been better if they had managed to get arnie and weaver in it, as it is not only does the film lack from their presence but its notably the film from both series the only one that doesn't have them in it.
I know Alien is set in the future but weaver could have played her own grandmother or something!
