Yeah I noticed that there are always a good number of people who hate on pro athletes and I am like why? you hate them cus they got skills you don't got? In my opinion they deserve all the money they get because they are better than anybody else in the world. they are the top athletes on earth and the people with the best skills deserve the best money. and it is not easy to be a top athlete. it takes much training, dicipline, meditation, focus, work, and intelligence. quit hating. be happy of those who achieved something so big.

I agree. I think most people hate them because they make so much money.
They do work hard though, and rarely get any time to spend with there families. I personally know a few pro athletes and they had to sacrafice a lot to be where they are now

hey at least you laugh about it rather than being all mad about it. I have seen some people get so angry about how much pro athletes get payed

Personally I think people like teachers and caregivers and people working to save the environment should get more money than athletes because those tasks are more important. But that is just my opinion and I certainly don't "hate" athletes and I am not jealous of them. I would rather hike and enjoy nature than compete at anything, but again, that is just me.

I live in sportsmad country , rugby is like a religion here and when a player makes a mistakes and it costs his team points is like he committed murder , its not that people hate the player but it's more the passion with which they follow their team .

Players work hard , they have put in hours of training and practise to get where they are and deserve respect ,it doesnt matter what they earn i think they deserve it .

oh and Glen ...none of our rugby players are that cute ;)

I could not give a fuck less about athletes or sports. I am sick of the emphasis placed on this crap, but it serves as one of the better distractions for the masses to preoccupy themselves with as shit goes to hell in a hand basket. That's why they dedicate literally an entire third of local newscasts to sports here in the US.

in order to hate something, you have to give a shit about it. professional athletics is not something that i do. (nor for that matter, is corporate media "entertainment")

i'm not saying they shouldn't be making good money, but this is pretty excessive. especially when they have the balls to whine about being underpaid.

also, a lot of them act like assholes on tv, which is just annoying. but that's certainly not all of them, just enough to give the rest a bad name.

I have the utmost respect for athletes and could easily see myself in their shoes but I don’t worship them like some fans. I wear a hat with a patriots logo but I don't wear a shirt with a particular athletes name or number because its a team game.

Some up front stuff: Sports bores me, athletes bore me, Suckers who babble about which player does what bores me. Hate 'em no, why bother. Jealous no but heres where I come closest to emotion. A bunch of useless millionaires running around setting poor examples for kids...That pisses me off. Wheres the worship for teachers and healers? Caregivers, carpenters, bakers...people who actually produce something? Whoops ain't none.

All this shit amounts to is some of americas dumber citizens worshiping a monarchy of wealthy people. Why not cheer for fucking Ford or GM, maybe GE. When sports leaves sandlots and backyards it loses value. Same category as big business, big religion and other power mongers...useless.

To be honest the feeling is mutual and any guy (any real man) who doesn't follow sports is one of two things which will go unmentioned [IMG]

I don't hate the athletes I hate the business. You have billionaire owners paying millionaire athletes and making the public pay for it. Seattle was all but done with the seahawks when Paul Allen stepped in. When they said they needed a new stadium to play in did Mr. Allen step up with his big fat check book, NO.
The state voted on whether we should fund a new stadium and we said no. Then Mr. Allen jumped in his helicopter, flew down to the governors mansion and told her make this happen for me. Boom we have a pile of money in a place for some rich people to work. FUCK THEM
