I just started drinking valerian tea to help me relax, and this is the second time I have. Both times I've been REALLY itchy on my thighs, shins, upper arms, and back. It isn't unbearable, but it's annoying. I'll try it a few more times, but if I really am allergic, is it healthy to still be drinking valerian tea? Like... besides the itchiness, could it be doing more harm that I don't know about? Thanks!

stop drinking it. not all "good things" are good to all people. for me it is coconut oil it makes me itch too, usually within days of eating the stuff. stop eating/ drinking any form of caffeine or alcohol or drug they are the last thing you need. start going to bed early. get some incense sticks and some relaxing music - set a mood.

if it's making you itch, definitely stop drinking it. Allergies often get worse with repeated exposure. And yes, if it's making your skin itch, it is also doing damage to your immune system, and probably your digestive system as well.

for me, valerian works best when used as aromatherapy. Maybe you can try that instead? If it makes your nose hurt, pay attention to what your body is telling you and stay away from that stuff!
