I've been playing sax for about 11 and a half years now. I've got 3 saxes, and hope to buy myself a bari one day soon. My alto is a yamaha 62 - a good solid instrument suitable for both classical and jazz. I'm taking it down to guildford to record a pop track I wrote over the summer tomorrow. Should be good fun. I'll make the final recording available to all that are interested when i get hold of it. Don't know when it'll be mixed. I also hope to get a copy of the multitrack as an OMF file or a pro tools file perhaps in order to do my own mix of it at work as well.
HEy thats pretty awesome. I'm only 14 and have only been playing for 3 years in my school band but it kicks ass. Good luck with your recording~!
My brother also plays the Alto sax at a semi professional level. He owns an S-62 Yamaha series himself. Very nice instrument, according to him but he prefers the french Selmers, had he been able to afford one
I've got nothing against selmers, they're well made and have a great feel to them and the key-work is excellent. but I can't quite get a tone I like out of them. Yamahas make a much brighter heavier tone. Selmers always sound weedy and thin, which is I suppose great if if you want to scream out sanborn-style porn sax, but I'm after a more rounded sound.
YAY SAXXXX!!!1 i played alto for about 2 yrs then switched to bari and havent turned back, i love the low tones and stuff.... Conn 10M bari from the 60s ish is the way to go!
Inever liked Conns. Anyone else played cannonballs. A very recent make. My tenor's a cannonball, and I'd love to get a cannonball bari.. www.cannonballmusic.com
Thats cool, I have a Vito...it's actually my friends sax but she doesn't play it, it kinda sucks because its like really old but "hey" it works
