audrey tatou is just beautiful. i love the part where she switches around everything in the grocer's apartment. she knows how to stick it to the man!

"there are more links in his brain than atoms in the universe" hehe... love that.

I just watched it again last night, for the millionth time. I don't really have a favorite part, I find the whole thing charming. And Audrey Tatou is one amazingly beautiful woman.

amelie has got to be one of my all time favourites, too! impossible to narrow it down to one part... here are some things that stick in my head...

i love all the little sound effects in the opening credits

i love the way all the characters are introduced with their quirky habits

i love the way amelie has got revenge down to a fine art

i love how she finds the little tin box just as she hears about lady di

i love how she tries to stay anonymous when the tin box is finally returned to its owner... and how she finishes her drink in a hurry

i love how amelie and the glass man teach each other about living life

i love her round about pursuit of monsieur quincompoix (i'm no good with names)

i love the moment when she leads the blind man down the street describing everything as they go, and leaves him in a state of euphoria

i love how she steals her father's gnome and sends it on a world tour leaving her father completely befuddled

i love the way the inanimate objects in her bedroom discuss her problems

i love the way the photographs tell quincompoix about the girl who found them

i love the way the grocery boy delights in telling customers that his boss "dort dans les choux-fleurs" and how he presents special treats like a magic trick to the glass man

i love the way amelie attempts matchmaking in the cafe... and how she tries to cover up the results with the milk steamer

i love the moment when quincompoix actually comes to the cafe and amelie completely freaks out (so believable!)

and of course... i love the whole ending!!

    *dreamy sigh*

i also love trying to figure out all the subtleties of the french script lost in the english subtitles... lucky my friend gave me the dvd for my b-day... not so lucky that i don't have a dvd player anymore.

That movie is fantastic in every single way...
The music is so sweet, so dreamy. As is the movie itself.
    I love it!

I've only seen this movie twice, but I definitely love it! You guys mentioned all the great parts, so I'll pick another that no one mentioned yet. I love when Nino is working at the haunted funhouse thingy and is all flirting with Amelie as she's riding and keeps going "wooooo" in her ear and then she is talking to him about love or something (haven't watched it in a while) and says like "it's kind of like a ghost who follows you around and goes wooooo in your ear" hinting at him. And yes, the subtitles were a pain in the ass as I'm visually impaired, so I had my face pressed up to the tv for the duration of the movie. Oh yeah, and gotta love Blubber the suicidal goldfish, hehe!

ok, one more rant. when you smoke pot, and watch Amelie, it is such a fucking peak, you don't know how to feel. you dont know if you should either scream out in ecstasy, or feel sad, or ecstatic, it's just too much. The climax where she breaks through her wall and lets him in, that is the climax, and its so godamn incredible, undescribable. the entire movie is like a peak experience, though.

For me it was a little strange, because i loved the movie, i was glued to my sit at the cinema, just thinking "it's incredible", but when it finished I became very sad, and I was out of speaking and conversations for hours thinking about the sad feeling, and I reached a conclusion, and I think I know hy I got so sad, and it's just because you hope life would be that way, and such amazing things should happen, but sadly, you realize that it's just a tale.
But I love the movie, the shit is that I lended the DVD to someone I can't remember and now I don't know where it is, I think my ex keeps it, I'll have to ask her :(

yea, it is kind of a sad feeling, which is what i was saying, you either feel ecstatic or sad. i think it is sad for people who are like amelie, who are dreamers, who havent really broken through their wall yet. and i think it is ecstatic for those who have had the courage to find love.

God smokes the Herb? Just thinking about it leaves me blissed-out, in a moment of nirvana, I am samadhi-fied. I am sure it is the best, "Instant Jesus."

Anyway, back to Amelie. I love the whole movie. But there is a line that says it all, something like "A fool stares at the finger that points to the stars." Ya gotta love that.

    Peace and Love,
    Happy Friday

Yeah, I totally agree, above all, what you say about who doesn't risk to break your borders and go doing what you're really feeling, what you like. I'm in a certain strange state at this moment of life, I want to do what I really feel, but it's hard, if someday I reach it, I'll tell you friends.
