American Beauty

I cannot beleive there is not already a thread about this fine un-Hollywood movie. In a way more of a British movie in its approach although the subject is very much American.

 

this is my most favorite movie of all time...just such a funny, tragic, and beautiful movie. What really does it for me is right as it ends, when elliott smiths cover of "sun king" comes on, that just completes the movie so perfectly

 

Oh I know and the part when Kevin Spacey is talking about the beginning of his life.... wow I should watch this movie tonight. I have a serious obession with Elliot Smith too.

 

Gah I don't have that song I do have five of his albums but not that song

 

Ah, I love that movie! Definately one of my favs...Sadly, I can totally see my mother playing the role of his wife.

 

great flick. i've seen it umpteen times. i should put that one on reserve at the library...

Not a prob

 

One of my favorite movies with one of my favorite actors, Kevin Spacey. I've owned it for quite some time and I never get sick of watching it. Anyone who likes films should see this.

 

ahh yeh its great, kevin spacey is a legend

 

the only film i've seen that doesn't STEREOTYPE stoners. i also love it for other reasons.

 

oh, i LOVE american beauty, it is easily my favorite movie. It is so thought provoking. It's excellent

 

I really liked Thora Birch in this movie as well, she's such an underrated actress blagh

Its a good movie.

At the time it came out, I was working 12 hours a day in a new city and didnt know anybody, so after work, I would go to the movies every once in a while.

So I went and saw this movie on one of my solo cinema experiences, and Im glad I did.

 

from recollection, i saw it at the theatre 3 times.

 

Yeah I think it's wonderful. I didn't see it until long after it came out though, and I was quite dubious beacuse I thought it would be all over hyped and thus a disappointment, but I simply adored it. I still get chills during that monologue at the end.
