    it really kills me
artificial nails....artificial hair...eyelashes...breasts...(the list is endless)
numerous plastic surgeries every year to be up to the standard

is it really so in america
or am i fooled by media?

when i see those admired hollywood stars who are considered to be beautiful i 'm lost in bewilderment
we have thousands of women in the streets much more beautiful without any make-up

lists of "the most sexiest" or "the most beautiful" ppl in the world usu made up by americans make me laugh off my head

what do ya think of this?

It's really true. And really silly, if you ask me.

They actually had a magazine I saw while at the supermarket last week--on the cover, it said, "Celebrities Without Make-up!" and had pictures of them. I thought they looked fine, though.

    I don't understand this.

No..... you're not being fooled by tv/media. Many, many people are like that.

The thing is there are quite a few people who aren't like that and really if someone is gonna judge me because I like the more natural look (I mean, I bathe, I take care of myself, occasionally wear mineral makeup, take care of my skin, etc.... but I'm really not so I'm getting my nails done twice a week and all that....)...... Then I feel they aren't the type of people that I want in my life anyways so it all works out in the end. :)

    "american standard of beauty"

now that has to be some kind of an oxymoronism if i've ever heard one.

succinctness and harmony are beauty. beauty is a japanese garden and a ferro-cement freeform domehouse with solar cells and windmills. and little people sized multiple unit non-combustion in any form, propelled trains instead of pavement everywhere.

it doesn't have a damd thing to do with what individual persons look like, and trying to impress anyone is the very exact opposite of any kind of beauty in any honest sense at all.

"american standard" is a brand name of plumbing fixtures. crappers specificly, although i do believe they may have other product lines as well.

It's rediculous... even for a girl who is pretty without make up it's not good enough just because of the high stardard that's set. I know I'm a pretty girl... but I feel ugly without make up on most of the time because I'm not "sexy" without it. That's like this thing with girls having to be way skinny to be wanted. It upsets me that because of this young girls become anerexic and belimic if they are 10 pounds more then what they "should" be. I'm a girl who is build with thick thighs and butt... and I'm considered obese because my WEIGHT is actually 50 lbs too heavy. People who see me don't believe it... but I'm sure if I lost that much weight I wouldn't look heathy at all. But luckily for the most part I've had the attitude "fuck em" and went on with my day. :)

I've always thought that the American standard of beauty was extreme obesity mixed with no fashion sense.

At least that's what I see most often on the street.

i still don't get what in the hell the appearance of individual human persons has to do with "beauty".

    the whole context is crap.

i mean pretty to look at is great for inspiring sex, but i'm really bored with this whole nonsensical notion that this is what everything has to be about.

i mean its fine, cool, enough already. everything being about any one thing is invariably crap, whatever that one thing is.

even my things about the things that interest me arn't about just those things themselves, but how they fit into everything else and the kind of world that resaults in all of us having to live in.

beauty is about buildings and gardens and environmentally harmonious infrastructure.

it isn't about effing soap opera crap.

Ofcourse beauty is not what it's all about... but we cannot help our instincts. We are naturally attracted to "beautiful" people, depending on our taste... beauty isn't all, but it plays an extremely crucial part in first impressions and meetings. I can honestly tell you that I'm a million times more likely to talk to a pretty girl in a party than to an ugly one...

I personally will not settle for less than a pretty girl with a great personality.

That's because you live in the most backwoods state in the country.

    ANYWAY....

It's not just in the US. I was watching a BBC documentary on Iran the other night, and the women there are even more obsessed with cosmetic surgery, and it is far more prevalent there than it is here.

I always so enjoy your posts.

And I think individual beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. There will always be thin people with awful personalities and superiority complexes and there will be fat people who have so much to offer beyond their weight. And visa versa.

Russia has the most beautiful girls in the world.
it is true--most of the young female in Russia are beautiful, delicate, lovely and sweet.

Asian people are always slim.you don't see many obesed people in China,Korea and Japan.

brazillians have way more plastic surgery than the usa. i know very few people who've gone under the knife. though they have very fine teeth. i hear that's rare overseas. to be completely honest, though, since leaving LA, i almost never see people modified to suit what's in magazines. people are ugly everywhere. there are also pretty people everywhere. but it seems to me that the claws always come out when it's about americans. i think it's a good sign. at least i know we're not the only narrowminded dickheads on the planet. that's nice. it's a relief.

Americans don't typically carry it out though....we just talk about it a lot...most of us are overweight and not as put together as western europeans or the japanese.
