Without looking at the video, quantum tunneling is about how an electron can teleport through things like transistors. They do it all the time, because electrons teleport all over the place, and are nothing like ordinary water or whatever. Since the 1920s we've been studying electrons closely, the most studied particle of them all, and physicists have managed to measure exactly how fast it takes them to tunnel. When it comes to dealing with ordinary matter, being able to put limits on how fast electrons tunnel makes it possible to make even exotic transistors that are ultra efficient, and can even work both classical digital computing and quantum mechanics, using the same circuitry. Basically, they mastered the transistor, which also means you can make transistors that carry perhaps 640w.
