I have a friend that is pretty religious. We were talking one day about ghosts, and she said that there is no such thing as ghosts. She said that if there are any spirits on the Earth, that they are either Angels or Demons. I think that is a bunch of bullshit, because I've had many experiences with ghosts, and none of them were Angels or Demons. I just wanted to see what everyone else's opinions on this were?

angels and demons are a prejorative terminology. nontangable forces and beings may very well and probably do exists. the terms angel and demon were invented by humans to exploit this probable existence as a means of manipulating other humans.

there are three things, there is science, there is self deception, and there is what we honestly and truely do not objectively know.

what we don't know is just as real as science, but we just as really don't know it.
self deception is also just as really self deception.

there are infinite ways of looking at everything, each is but one among them.

    this is one of them.

think of it as a chewtoy.

what i can never understand on a gut level
is why anyone would WANT the universe to be personal

there are INFINITE "kinds" of everything.
none of them require prejorative type casting

it is not a question of not denying what we can't see
but of not denying what we can.

-No, im sorry but your friend is wrong. There is absolutely no physical possible way of coming to a conclusion whether or not spirits exist. (i personally believe in them) but theres no way somebody can tell you exactly what kinds of spirits exist because nobody knows, has ever known and will ever know. I can tell you that if they do exist (which i think they do), then there is certainly more than just a few "types" of spirits.

They probably exist on a number of different dimensions and planes that we as humans cannot comprehend.

seems like if there are "inorganic beings" living parallel to us (and I have had many experiences that have brought me closer to that ideal), they would fit into many different categories. however, two main patterns of existance that I have seen for myself in this life are: the predatorial existance and the desire to help those with lesser ability than yourself. "angel" and "devil" are only descriptions, but perhaps descriptions of something very real and beyond the descriptions themselves.

There are no demons. There are dark entities and evil people but demons? No. Angels exist. Spirits and Ghosts exist. Many people are just closeminded or let religion blind them to what is real, and what is not. What I find amusing is Christianity's "Devil". It's just absurd. The Devil is what people thought up as a way to blame someone else for their negativity instead of blaming themselves.

being so sure of something like that just seems to be another kind of close-mindedness.

to say that something does not exist, especially without proof, is close-minded. to be open-minded is to accept the possibility of something that you cannot prove to be false.

the same goes for saying that something definitely does exist, when you have no proof for that either. both are dogmatic views, and by definition, are not open-minded statements. i personally feel that these entities do exist, but that our labels for them are too limited. i still have to accept the possibility that i could be wrong.
