Who here, likes anime? Lately i really got into this japanese animne series called "Gantz" (about 26 episodes long). I fuking love it, it's so gorey. I also heard that Evangelion pwns, so i'm gonna watch that too soon. So Gantz is this series were, people who die appear in another dimension and are given weapons and special suits to kill some aliens (with a time limit). It's really good. So, share your opinions and recommend some good anime if you know some.
I used to watch a ton of anime, but I wish I really had the time to watch more. I use to be a big fan of Yu Yu Hakusho, R.O.D., Tenchi Muyo, the original Guyver anime, a few others.
I'd definately recommend Evangelion...but be prepared, as it builds into a very confusing, very complex, total mind-fuck. Make sure you watch the movie after you've finished the series. I'd also recommend Lain, Haibane, COwboy Bebop, Trigun, His and Her Circumstances. A lot of anime-elitist types bash Dragonball Z, but I enjoy it. If you look at the entire saga, it's pretty epic, and the fights are entertaining.
yah DBZ was good, I enjoyed the fights in the beginning, until everyone got lazy. All I ever saw was flashes of lights, then two people throwing punches and kicks, then more flashes, and the process repeats. When they actually animated the fights, they were the shit.
japanese cartoons piss me off a whole lot... they all seem exactly the same to me, and they've ruined millions of our youths... if you ever see a group of kids interacting with eachother you can always tell which ones watch way too many japanese cartoons.. whats worse is the folks who are 18+ that act the same way... always saying cheesy things in a way that makes you cringe... oh man, and the drama.... agh..
This is only true to an extent... There are seperate 'eschelons' of anime....some of it is well made, artistic, intelligent, and genuinely entertaining. For example: Evangelion, Lain, even slightly less 'artsy' ones like Trigun or Bebop. However there is also a lower layer of anime, most of which are americanized nonsense such as Inuyasha, Naruto, and the like. These tend to attract the kiddies and more annoying of the older crowd.
