or another reason not to eat meat at all. I like the "uh....it needs more research" quote from Applebee's. The only reason this is not standard practice is because being more humane costs a little more money. Big effing deal. They owe it to the animals to at least be partly decent regarding how the animals are killed.
applebees has went down hill for there munchie food.. yousd to love there tequila lime quesadillas,, an there baby back ribs,,.. but the quality has went down.. id hardly blame that on anything that peta has there nose in..
Applebees sucks anyway, there's not a damn thing on their menu that's vegan. Not the one I went to anyway. I had to fucking struggle with them just to get a salad without eggs and bacon on it...sheesh. And then in the appetizers section was the only thing close to being veg, and it was called a veggie patch pizza.... I asked for it without cheese, not knowing they still put creamed spinach on it...and told them I couldnt eat that either... The "pizza" sucked anyway, because it was just a stupid tortilla shell with veggies and cheese on it. I was really unimpressed. I mean c'mon, you cant even make a SALAD without animal products on it? How lame is that?! Since when were salads supposed to be layered with half a pig on it. Honestly... it pisses me right off.
lol im not kidding I work at applebees and Im a veggi. I do not eat nor touch or cook there chicken. Did you know that there mexi rice/almond and there saled dressing have chicken fat in it!!!!!!!! Oh ya and the servers don't tell YOU!!!!! Oh and there prices are going up as well. Its a job I cringe at!
I would like to know also, in case we go driving somewhere. At some Friday's, the salsa has chicken fat and cheese in it. I swear to god. The dark smoky one.
I have never eaten there, and never will. Sounds like cheap all american food, Im not the least bit surprised.
I have a vegetarian friend who works at Applebees. Obviously it's easier because she's not vegan, but she'll have grilled cheese or she'll have french fries dipped in honey mustard.
Applebee's is pretty bad. But then again so are most restuarants. I'm not a vegan so I don't have as much trouble as some of you, but I still find it hard to find something that I can eat at "mainstream" restuarants- unless they advertise having a decent vegetarian menu. But isn't that the way America is, get everything done as cheaply as possible and then sell it back to the public for as much money possible? A lot of times though, if you just ask, they can simply not put those bacon bits in your soup, or not put that meat on your salad or substitute the meat with something else like mushrooms or beans. . .unless they have tofu which is almost never. Or just don't go out to eat.
Well, we ate at Applebee's last night and I discovered that they do not have a single vegetarian item on the menu. There are a few items that you can ask to have the chicken left off or whatever, but not a single item that does not come without meat of some kind on it. And you still have to pay for the chicken even if you have it left off. They didn't even have a salad without meat on it. You could get fries, but that's about it. I guess when I totally make the switch, we won't be going there any more. So far I'm eating less and less chicken and turkey. By the end of the month I want to stop eating meat all together. Kathi
look, it's generic yuppie fast food. be classier. avoid it. (isn't Applebees where Harmon Leon met the white supremicicsts in "Republican Like Me?")
My friends like applebees and me and a friend of mine are veggie...and I have never had a problem with them making food for me without meat...esp. the salads...hmmm...I'll admit Its not the HEALTHIEST place to eat and if I were not out numbered we'd all be going to East Coast Vegan...buuuut ... they have been pretty alright with making my food without meat... ::shrug::
