This week i was given anti depressants and I've smoked weed day in day out for two years and I want to continue....would it affect the anti depressants? I smoked it yesterday while I was on my antidepressants as well and it dind't do much to affect them, it just made the weed make me feel better.

^ Not true bro. Some people have serontonin and dopamine transmitters that reuptake or whatever it's fucking called too fast, so they have a post synapse deficiency. Those neurotransmitters affect mood among other things. Depression can have a "cause", or it can be a legitimate chemical imbalance. To answer the question, SSRI's and pot go great together. What were you on?

lol... antidepressants arent as bad as everyone makes them out to be, other than that they're over prescribed.. if you really need it, they can be a miracle, but if you dont, they could fuck your life.

I take Effexor XR....or thats what I took. (I'm stoned now so, sorry about the unclarity) Anyway, yeah, Effexor XR, and it felt like my brain is on fire and my heart would pound. I'm also taking Ativan tranquilizers because of my fear of peers and such. So, it's kinda cool though when the tranquilizers wear off and I smoke weed, it gives an amazing effect! ha. Thanks guys for the reassurance!

Ah, benzos. One of the best fucking feelings. They are a bitch to stop using though if you take high dosages for a year or so. Lotus, not to sound like a dick dude, but you should really study up on neurology before you claim something as a fact.

marijuana may not help your medication get through helping you - or at least thats what my doctor tells me. Yet if you dont use weed just as to get a high. you might even get some help through smoking weed , so i wouldnt worry about what it has to do with your antidepressents. though there are drugs that when taken with anti depressants can cause serotonin syndrome or other problems like lets say using prozac and cough syrup
