I need 3 volunteers for 'The Not So Simple Living Fair' in Mendocino County on July 26, 27 and 28 to help me with the 'Zero Waste'.
Basically we gather all the waste and put it into the proper recycling apparatus. Mainly compost (all the paper based products), aluminum, glass, plastic and a very small amount of trash.

Last year we had about 3,000 people come thru the fair over the course of the 3 days and we were able to get it down to 3 bags of garbage. This year I'd like to get it down to 1 or even 2. I know it is possible - but last year I got a little short handed towards the end of the fair and was unable to be as discriminatory as I would have like in the separating of the refuse.

Anyhoo - as a volunteer you get 3 days and nights of free camping, free entrance, and I will smoke you out fat if you partake in that kind of thing.

The real perks though - this is a great place to learn all things homesteading and self sustainability wise. Whether you want to build your own solar set up or make your own hard cider - dress a chicken and hog or grow your own grains - blacksmith or weave - this is the place for you.

This is a festival of self sustaining folks sharing ideas and camaraderie.

 

I'm going to see Black Sabbath in August, hopefully make it to a few raves between now and then as well.
