Anybody hate when random ass people try to strike up a conversation with you?

and i feel some obligation to engage them. i'm too nice to just blow them off.


i was forced to take the bus yesterday and swear to god, some fucking lady just opens up to me about her marriage problems and how she's leaving her husband because he's been fucking around on her for over a year... including accepting a blow job the night of his bachelor party.


some of the details were fucking hilarious, but........wow.


it was just too awkward.

 

I guess sometims people just need SOMEONE to listen....

i like it.. i'm a terrible conversationalist.

 

depends on the person. if I'm not doing anything, I usually don't mind.

I had an indonesian ladyboy keep talking to me on a train in Thailand. I sincerely wanted to read, and tried to resume my book a bunch of times, but she would just keep talking. even forced her email adress on me. oh well, no harm done.

 

I love it! I learn so much from strangers and sometimes it's nice to listen to them and have them know they're being heard.

I'm the kind of person who starts conversations with random ass people if I'm in the mood. People are intriguing.

i've never really had any people that have serious conversations though..

i get people that say stuff like "hi, i'm mr. mcSmileypants, but you can call me mr.mcsmileyshorts because i just realized i'm wearing shorts today."

 

I don't hate it but I'm not really good at talking with strangers. I can be a pretty awkward conversationalist with strangers at times. I wish I wasn't.

 

I haven't yet had the chance of meeting someone who just wanted to talk to me about random stuff that I actually enjoyed listening to.. usually.. I don't wanna listent to them.. like.. cab drivers.. so I pretend I got a phone call and start talking.. or.. on buses or trains (or planes) I pretend to be sleeping. I wish I was rude enough to just say.. look, I don't care, leave me alone, please.. haha how bad though.. I mean, I think I may have said that to a couple people who were just really horrible.. like talking about their weird sex life or asking me weird questions..

 

nowadays i generally hate it. i want ot be left alone, and its usually teh crzy old women who try to talk tko me and they want to talk abou thteir cats or some shit
when iw as younger i loved talking to people. id often talk to folk on the bus. i still remember having a really nice conversation with a woman who ran an A&W (burger place) and told me i could come by and talk any time i needed to - we were talking about how my aunt was dying and my mom and stepdad had split up (briefly) and stuff. she was just really nice and listened and was super supportive, somethign i needed at the time i guess. never did go see hera gain tho

 

I love it.

If people feel the need to open up about something as personal as marriage, they need someone to vent and for someone to reflect their thoughts to them, so I'll do just that.
Also, I just like conversation with people, it's fun.

personally i'm in the "in the mood" camp, but i also agree with rat that it has a lot to do also with who it is and what they want to talk about...

at my job its encouraged, and as such i have learned to make conversation with people i don't really know, but its not really in my nature in most circumstances. i'm generally a reserved individual.

if i'm in the right mood, though, i like it. or if its someone i find appealing/fascinating, or if they're discussing something i find appealing/fascinating....

and sometimes i'm the wierd stranger....

i wish our society were more open, accepting, and friendly, but at the same time i prefer to keep to myself and to have other people leave me alone a good majority of the time.....but not always

 

i can't help but chitchat and joke with random strangers. i'm bored. i don't give out my life details, though. that's annoying. people do that to me a lot. i've heard way more about people's problems than i ever wanted to while waiting in lines and stuff. AIRPLANES. jeez. that's the worst place.

What I hate is when someone starts up a convo with you and you instantly realize they are just buttering you up for the final question of "do you have any spare change?"
