As does my mother, but it was her own tissue - created from fatty tissue in her lower belly. :) She's very happy with her new boob.

hummblebee how did they do that? I've thought about getting mine enlarged..i have one that's 2 cups sizes smaller than the other and it'd be nice to have somewhat symmetrical breasts..

That's interesting. I thought that that's been tried before but never worked. I've never heard a story where that was actually done. Was it a difficult procedure?

They did it on a show called Skin Deep once, a woman had one breast lost to cancer and had her new one made out of skin and fat they took from her stomach. The final product looked pretty good, mind you when she had her orginal surgery to have her breast removed they had removed her nipple and sewn it to her chest, so the final bit to finish it off was sewing that nipple back on but if you didnt have your nipple you could always get a fake one tattooed on!

Yeah, I'm not sure how they did the nipple. She had to have a mastectomy due to cancer, and it was about a year later (they actually moved from Chicago to Tampa) before she got the reconstruction. For the reconstruction, they did it in three parts: the first was taking the tissue from her belly - this was the hardest part because it meant abdominal surgery, which is always painful and recovery is difficult. They did the major part of the reconstruction a few weeks later, when she was mostly recovered. Then they waited a couple of months (until her body had totally healed from all of it, and she was fairly 'normalized') before she went in again for final touches. I think in that stage they worked on minimizing scar tissue, and gave the other breast a lift so they would match.

It's been a few months now, and she says she's really happy with it. It's done wonders for her self-esteem. She was an extended breastfeeder and La Leche League Leader, so as her child I have *some* idea of what a blow it was to lose a breast. :)

be sure you have an awesome surgent though, the surgent fucked up one of my mom's boobs it had ripples on it and the surgent retired right after he did her operation so he wouldn't fix them and it was a huge hassel!!

That's really neat that can be done like that. And yes, thanks for sharing that with us hummblebee.
