I've never read them. My father has a couple of those books...

Drug use isn't a spiritual thing for me, so I don't know how much I would enjoy his books.

I haven't read any of his books since the 80s.I used to be able to open any book to any page and soon feel better about -I don't know -just being alive.I wonder how I'd feel now after all these years.

great books, so much knowledge that we have access to now. i recommend reading journey to ixtlan (4th book) before the first book cuz it describes the early teachings he recieved and how he met don juan. it explains the lessons he learned before taking the drugs which are very important, i think a lot of people start reading them cuz of the mescaline experiences but there is a lot more.

i sometimes wake up at 3 in the morning and read about "dreaming" and power etc. and go back to bed and have crazy lucid dreams. haha it def. has given me a new perspective.

rock on brother you are so right, the drug talk is so overrated in that book, because don juan and generavo are the trips! they are offering anceint knoledge to all, which is unheard of. we are very lucky!
    13, my lucky number ;)

excellent reading...and many inspiring words to help a person search their inner self. The books are much more than a drug experience, they are a path of enlightenment.I highly recommend them,as a first read, and a reread.Much to be learned from with-in the covers of his books.

Oh shit, I love Carlos Castaneda.. I read them all except Power of silence.. cause by then i fel that castaneda's assemblige point was shifted enough, and it was unessacry to write a whole book on the power of silence.. i felt it was best left silent..

I couldnt even read past the first page, and the others i finished in under three days.

I kinda like him, I have only read Journey to Iatlan. So do you think all the things he said really happend to him? I belived in all the power and magic, untill the friend of Don Juan made Carlos car dissapear and reapear. At that point I thought he was making this stuff up. How about ya'll did it all really happen?

Yeah i think it explains how those tings can happen very well, like your perception, and when we shift our attention from the world of reason.

Yea, like the story part of it is a bit boring, and kind of feels liike it assumes the reader is dumb, I know it's not supposed to, but it kind of does. Still, the insightful parts are amazing, especially how I have had the same sort of experiences with the double.

well remember, casteneda never set out to publish these books in the first place...don Juan had an alterior motive telling carlitos to take notes, other than it made him focus...it was part of his plan with carlitos, so that this knoledge would not die. this was all masterminded by don juan to influence america!
these diaries are Carlos's experience, and yes, he was a little slow we'll say..and so are fuckin' americans! so of course thats how it was planned by the master.
however in his aloofness he is one of the most honest fluid writers out there, no matter the perception of himself. this is called courage. his memory was also keurackian. the plan came to fruitiion :)

I really like the castaneda books, because i think the over all teaching, is pur like other practices, i see alot of ties to Indian Yogic practices, and taoist inner alchemy.
