My cat has killed three birds!
The last bird he killed was a robin and he brought it in the house while it was still alive then it died, its horrible we put a collar with a bell on him but he hated it and managed to get it off.
    Anyone have any ideas?

put a bell on the cats collar so birds get a warning when the feline strikes...its the reason you can buy a bell at the petstore....my cat kills something every day....usually a shrew

put a bird table in the garden (tall enough so the cat can't reach the top, obviously)

Keep your cat indoors or you are going to have to accept he is being a cat.

I think you and I have been hanging out together to much, it is time we go our separate ways, for the sake of future kittens..;)

Can't keep him indoors he couldn't stand that, I know its just instinct but its kinda sad to see a robin dying. Maybe the bird table is a good idea!

    ps not killing my cat!!

You could clear the area around the feeder of any cover, but that would make it less attractive to the birds, and make them more vulnerable to other predators, like hawks.

Find a way to hook a water sprinkler up to a motion sensor or radio transmitter on the cat's collar?

My cats kill birds too its a sad thing to see. There's really nothing you can do about it. But i usually get very upset and ignore them when they do that. Or I will put the cat in a cage and leave it there for a few hours. At least it shows them that killing birds isn't right.

Killing birds is right...if you are a cat. That's the problem.

Cats will be cats, and who are we to try and combat centurys of hunting instincts? There really isn't much you can do.

Get a pellet gun and kill them yourself before the cat can?

Keep him indoors from dusk til dawn (this is when birds leave/enter their nests) whether you/he like it or not!

no birdfeeders, keep low branches cut so he has a hard time climbing trees.

He killed three times in the past two days after not killing anything for at least a month.
It was horrible he killed a baby mouse and it was still alive when he brought it in, he killed a bird and another mouse too :(
He's wearing a collar with a bell now, hopefully he'll keep it on.
