    Hi,

I'm very sorry for your loss. A good friend of mine committed suicide in December back in 2002. They say people who have things to hide have skeletons in their closet but a person who commits suicide puts a skeleton in YOUR closet.
Some of the songs I listened to were: Greg Allman's "All My Friends" and "These Days" (written by Jackson Brown whose wife committed suicide), "A Dream goes on Forever" (which I played at my Mom's memorial service) and "Zen Archer" by Todd Rundgren, "East of Ginger Trees" by Seals and Crofts, "Round and Round" by Neal Young. They're old but classic rock and roll songs.
Be sure to get some grief counseling and/or join a grief support group through your local hospice if you need to. The first year is the hardest and don't judge your grief reaction or lack thereof, everybody is different. Life is worth living and if you don't feel it now, you will in time.
    Take good care.

I would agree that the grief counciling is a good idea. You might like listening to the sad songs too though.

in the music busness, deejay tom reynolds is known as the king of depession.
his book, "i hate myself and want to die: the 52 most depressing songs you ever heard." is the bible of depressing songs.

almost all the songs others' listed here are in reynolds book.
i would most strongly recommend that, you get pick up a copy of the the book from the libaray.

one of the songs reynolds is is bobby darin's 1960 "hit" single, "artificial flowers."
it is the most, strange, depressing, sick and twisted songs i have ever hear!

i have heard almost all the songs, that others have listed here and, i have heard all the songs in reynolds book.

NOT ONE OF ANY OF THE OTHER SONGS CAN EVEN HOLD A PUNK'S CANDLE TO DARIN'S VERSION OF "ARTIFICIAL FLOWERS!"

Condolences on your friend's death. I like this song more than I did when I first heard it, partly because it makes me think of a friend I lost.

Sorry to hear about your friend, man--that's awful! I don't know of any sad or depressing songs or any indie or alternative ones for that matter--but what about Dust In The Wind by Kansas? I've always loved that song--maybe it'll help you get through the times ahead!
