Im sure that I was at a festival that they played and at the time didnt know who they were and didnt go see them, not sure where or when but sorta remember the name was on the lineup
Never really heard much... there are a few songs to listen to on their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/countingcrows Sounds like good stuff
Yes, I quite like Counting Crows, I like the singer's voice and they do a good cover of the Grateful Dead's 'Friend of the Devil'. I remember when everyone on this forum used to go crazy for them, Miss Mercy especially....
ha i remember that sal.. kelso and rosie were obsessed.. i like them...their older stuff especially..
their friend of the devil is better than the original although i dont like the Grateful Dead's so may be biased and I think miss mercy may have introduced them to me
Not sure I'd go as far as saying it was better. Not like the Byrds covers of Dylans songs are better. But I liked the slow, mournful twist they put on Friend of the Devil. Their version of Big Yellow Taxi isn't quite up to par though....
the best version of big yellow taxi Ive heard is by melanie not the original by joni mitchell I have it but only on record
I've got their "August and Everything After" album which I like a lot. They're a good melodic band, but rather downbeat, so it depends what mood you're in to listen to them. I've moved somewhat away from downbeat style music, e.g. Radiohead et al, because, well, it's a bit of a downer man isn't it?
i've always liked the Counting Crows. loved "mr. jones and me". unfortunately though i somehow own none of their albums.
