Anyone skateboard?

I was wondering if anyone skateboarded and could give me a few pointers? I am just starting out and really like it, but, I don't really have anyone to teach me...could someone please give me a few tips? I always seem to go to the left and I can't stay straight! Why?

 

well I used to skate alittle, but got pissed and stopped cuz i couldnt land a kickflip(not out of primo anyways). and now my parents say i cant skate anymore, because it got me invloved with druggies


anyways, dont keep your legs stiff when youre skating and about to do a trick. ive lost the link, but i think its www.skateboard-city.com that has tips for a whole buncha tricks. Hope I helped

and if youre starting out, dont get a shitty board. pay more money(or steal one) and get a good brand name board. I like World Industries....

 

Heh heh, the mountains ain't the best places to skateboard. Somethin bout goin down a 75 degree slope at thirty miles per hour jus turns me off. An all the skaters here jus skate around this one parkin lot, so it's kinda pointless.

 

haha, i went down a hill this spring going atleast 40 mph, got scared and jumped off. i protected my face with my elbow and tore my right knee to shit, the skin anyways. it was a nasty site

 

haha that sucks, yeah, I wouldn't be to happy with going that fast either. The skaters here are mostly assholes, a lot of them anyways, I'd like to get to know them but they're not really my crowd, so I'll just stick to who I am, but try to skate. Awesome, I'll check out that site, thanks!

hey ladyskater, do you do tricks or do you like to just roll around? If you like the rolling part invest in a good longboard. the trick part of skating just takes up your whole life!!!

 

heh, well I just started so right now I'm just focusing on rolling around. I'm not really into the whole tricks thing, I just like to be able to ride it and turn, and do that "ollie" thing so I can ride it places instead of having to drive and stuff. What are some good brands of skateboards? Also, what is the difference between a longboard and a shortboard? Is there much size difference?

 

normal skateboards are ushily in the low 30 inches
and longboards are ushily between 40 and 50 inches

normal skateboards are made for aerial tricks
and longboards are for riding and going fast...there are also tricks u can do on longboards aswell

 

If your going to want to cruise around, you can check out Sector 9 longboards. They make a good board for all kinds of skaters, including new ones getting into the sport. www.sector9.com i believe.

 

thanks! I really want to learn, badly. Yeah, I basically want to be able to just skate around, do a trick or two, and maybe like, be able to go down ramps or something so if i ever go to a skatepark or something I don't look like a complete idiot

 

I use to skate...Don't go balls out when first starting out.If you just wanna use it for transportation than just learn how to ride it,ollie(you'll be hopin' up curbs n' shit) maybe learn how to grind too.

If you want a good board check out "Alien Workshop" or "Baker".I don't know if theres any new good brands out(it's been like 4 yrs since I quit)but when I was skating, those two brands were popular.
Picking a board out is kind like buying a new guitar.It's just the feel of it,or sometimes you just get lucky trading boards with friends or somethin'.Good boards have good shape,don't buy a ugly pointed nose/tail lookin' thing.It's hard to explain but you'll learn alot if you stick with it.Find some friends to skate with too!It's mad fun,me and my boy's use to mob deep as fuck like 20 of us would be tearing up a spot!Having friends is good for skating at night(scary skating alone) and areas you don't know.So far most of my good times came from skating,what a trip it was,fucking with bums,getting chased by the fuzz.

I messed my ankles up too much while skating,One day I just said fuck this,it ain't worth breakin' bones for somethin I not gonna do forever.So I quit.Along with all the other crew,only two of them still skate out of the 20 of us!Now everyones into drugs,or has a kid,joined the military,gangs,made it big with skating and some just vanished.

I wish I could find some people to skate with..but, honestly all the skaters here are big assholes, and ive found that the GIRL skaters like, wont except anyone new and are really rude, I totally hate that, its really discouraging. Heh, omg, yeah getting chased by the pigs for skating where u cant and stuff seems a lot of fun!..I wish I would have gotten into the whole "skater clique" earlier cuz its like, they dont except anyone new.

I was thinking, waht about getting a board off Ebay? My bro said about just buying everything seperatly, the deck, trucks, all taht stuff so u know u get good stuff,t hen just put it together....sound ok?

ebay is a great place to buy longboards. There are tons of sector 9 longboards on their. i think there are some shortboards too
. you shouldnt have to pay more then $150 for a good sector 9...

 

It's better to go to a local skateshop.Like ebay might have some wheels that look nice,but when you get em' their some 58mm T-Bones!!!!!You don't want big wheels,lol.

I always liked venture trucks,their nice & light,.Wheels,I tried just about all of em',but I liked ghetto child,and alien workshop/habitat ones the best,cause they were small & thin.
Bearings,I didn't go through too many sets of em',but "china bones" lasted me forever!

You don't need riser pads,no-one uses em'.

Don't listen to those asshole skaters.Same fools gave me shit when I first started...I ended up being way better than all of them.
Yeah you'll get fustrated alot when skating.I snapped a couple of brand new boards from not being able to land a trick.
LOL!!The funniest shit is when a couple of friends are trying the same trick on a handrail or somethin' and none of you can land it,so everyones just pissed and starts throwing their boards around,bashing em,tossing em' in the air,just beating the fuck out of it.Then 5 mins later you wished you never have done that.

Me & my brother didn't have friends that skated,but once we started,fuck man we started a skating revolution n' shit!Next thing you know everyone around here has a board and wants to skate with us!LoL,it even made me popular at school!And the ladies were starting to notice me.

 

hehe that sounds so awesome! Hah, yeah that would be fun just like everyone going crazy and messin up their boards and shit, but, yeah like 10 mins later I would probably regret it. I'll just start skating alone and hopefully people will join me. Hopefully once school starts the skaters will start to talk to me, but, to be hoenst they don't like me cuz im a "hippie", how lame is that?
