I'm going to England from April 1st to the 14th and I want to hit up some parties and see how things are there! So, what kind of stuff is legal there that isn't in the US? And if anyone knows of any cool parties, let me know! Also, I love hot British boys with amazing accents.
Depends where in England you're going. Perhaps there are some gigs you can go to. Also, it depends what you consider "hot". British guys aren't the most good looking of people...I, for one, am the only exception. Hahaha!
I'm definitely a blonde hair, blue eyed, nice teeth and body kind of person. But I'm really just looking for some people to hang out with while I'm there cuz it's a "family thing," and my siblings aren't 18, so I'm not going to the Pubs alone!!
We're staying in Roydon, which I guess is a town about 45 minutes from London? But we're supposedly going to London almost every day and (I forgot the name of the other place) for a few days, and some amusement park/zoo one day.. If that makes any sense..? Haha.
ah cool. ooh are you going to london zoo?? that's in camden, you should check out the locke there, full of goths!
rofl some punk came and asked me for money for beer! vague memory now i come to think of it of this happening on previous occasions too - well at least theyre honest! i actually gave 50p to a homeless man on the tube too because i admired his confidence as he hopped on and made a public address to the whole carriage. thought it took guts and so gave him some money - mind you...i suppose he afforded a travelcard
I NEVER give money to bums here. I think of it like, "Obviously they're in the situation they are in for a reason.." But it they came right out and asked for it, while making a fool of themselves in the process, I might think about handing some over. I might be going to either of those zoos, who knows. Haha. I'm so stoked on leaving to US though! Everyone keeps telling me how amazing Europe is and I finally get to see it for myself!
we ain't really Europe though... sure, we are in Europe, but nothing like the mainlanders. Most of us tend to forget we're in Europe
...Wow...That is probably the most American thing I've heard. Not only are you showing complete apathy, but you would only give money to them if they entertained you? Not all homeless people are homeless due to their own fault, many may not be able to pay rent after an increase in the pay, or they had a family feud (which is usually the case). Anyway, go to Camden, you're sure to find loads of drug dealers and "bums" who will be craving for your money.
Yeah, that's true. Britain is like the country that the rest of Europe wished they could forget. We don't have any culture compared to Spain, France, Austra, et cetera.
wow if more people thought like that the world might actually become a decent place to live *shudders* :leaving:
That's just the way I've been raised to think. the majority of the people here would agree with me. It's nothing against bums, they're probably nice people on the inside, but I'm not rich, I can't afford to give every bum money, so why support any? I dunno, maybe I'm being irrational, but it's just my opinion.
It would not be the inability of being able to give money to someone that I take issue with, but the attitude that they are there cause they did it to themselves. That concept is utterly ludicrous, especially considering the current administration in the States and how little it does to protect people from winding up on the streets. You don't have to give someone money, hell where I came from in Rochester, NY there were many homeless "bums" that you could tell were crack addicts and you could give them a few bucks or some loose change and an hour later if they saw you on the street again they'd hit you up for more. However, there were also those that were hard on their luck and were happy if you bought them a sandwich so they didn't go hungry. To just dismiss them as "having gotten there themselves" is a very narrow-minded outlook on life and what the hardships people go through. I would think based on your statement you yourself or anyone you know has never been on welfare, received food stamps, or been without healthcare. I know those are broad generalizations but considering the "that's just the way i was taught" attitude you have I figure it must be pretty accurate. Also, you are 18 (based on the age indicated to the side there) isn't that old enough to actually think for yourself and not just go along with whatever mummy and daddy told you all your life? Maybe you were born with the proverbial silver spoon in your mouth, but some people have to struggle and fight to feed themselves and their families, and then turn and pay rent, bills, for basic prescriptions and healthcare, etc. There were times a few years back that I couldn't afford to pay my month's rent until the next was due. I was so close to that point of becoming homeless myself because I was ill and the US government pisses on people that have any sort of illness and have difficulties holding down a job regularly. It can take two years or more to get approved for disability in some parts of America, but I guess it is the persons fault that they are ill and can't work. I mean damn them for not having good health and not having savings enough to last for two years buying food and paying bills to not wind up on the street.
