What do you think? How much does a CD cost in where you live?

I just bought four CDs this afternoon and it cost me almost 100 euros. It's a lot of money. I would never stop buying music, no matter how expensive CDs were... But I still think 20-25 euros from one CD is too much.

around here you just have to be smart with where you buy your cds i guess. like, i'd love to buy my CD's from Salzers [cool local store] but since their locals it gets pricey. so i normally just go to big chain stores like best buy or sam goody for my cds, and then it's normally around $12.00-$15.00, which i dont think is too bad

in my country there is a lot of copied discs for 2-2,5 euros. But you can't find so many good titles. There is a lot of garbage, but you can find something(it will take you 3 years but nevermind)

Sometimes I can spend $50 at a time on CDs. No matter how much they are I will still buy them, because I love music. Sometimes it does anger me about the price but think about how much value those songs have.

20-25 euros fpr a cd?

    yikes, that's steep

here in Canada you're lookin at $14-$23 CDN (about $11-$19 US or 9-15 euros)for most stuff, rare import stuff MIGHT get as high as $30 CDN, but that's rare

when I'm out for CDs I tend to keep my eye out for bargins and sales, but for the most part I just frequent the used CD places, half the price for the same product. I don't burn simply because I'm a huge fan of liner notes and cover art and I prefer to support the music in any way I can (even if the band is only getting like $0.50 off my purchase)

Yeah, I try and wait awhile before buying a new CD. But the 'new' CD of The Thrills still costs too many, well, at least for me.
I don't like it that CDs cost so many, but I don't like to burn CDs, it's just not the same. So, I will continue buying them.

Over here in the US they tend to be too much money and the CDs usually suck. If I'm lucky a cd will have about four tracks that are good, and some of it is just filler.

For my movie review website I'm sent free soundtracks to listen to, and most of the time the soundtracks are terrible.

I love Rob Zombie's music but his soundtrack to house of 1,000 corpses was not good. There were only about fourteen songs, five of which were his, there were a lot of soundbytes from the movie, and the rest of the CD consisted of other bands music which weren't any good as well.

I think cd's over here are a bit over-priced than they should be, but if it's a classic band like Zeppelin or the Who, I'll do what I can to buy it.

    Are CDs too expensive?
    YES

Paying anywhere from $12 to $20 is ridiculous. That's why I boycotted all CD stores a long time ago, I use P2P networks like bittorent for all my music albums, and then I burn them onto CD. It's the same thing, I encourage you all to do the same

I can probably count on one hand the cds I've bought in the last five years. That was when I got my first burner. I like buying cds. It's fun. But they would have to drop the price to around five bucks (which is a fair price) before they would get my business again.

I prefer to put the money more directly back into the musicians pockets by going to lots of live shows. Live music is so much better, anyway.

I dont think the band gets any direct money from you if you buy the CD in the first place. And record labels are tight asses nowadays, so I dont feel guilty about stealing them.

I think new CDs are way too expensive, so I usually look for used CDs if I'm in an actual store. Luckily, some big city stores have great deals from around $5-8 USD. I also like going to piddly little no-name stores and seeing what they have to offer. This one store I went to didn't have a used section, but they had a "cut-outs" bin with CDs for like $3-4 and I got a Bruce Dickinson CD there. Now, I do most of my CD shopping on half.com where I get many CDs for $2 a piece sometimes. I'm into rare metal, so the last few CDs I've bought have been the normal $20 but I consider half.com my best deal. I also download music, but I'm on dial-up, so getting a good quality song takes forever.

i download a lot of music, but i use it to sample artists' works. after a few days, i either delete the mp3's or i add the album's name to a shopping list and the next time i go to buy cd's i buy that cd; delete the mp3; and then rip the cd into media player all neat and tidy-like.

the store i buy music from is amoeba in san francisco on haight street. they have some insane deals there; especially in the used section. i spent 100$ there last time i went and got 9 cd's and a stack of records. i recommend anyone who lives nearbye to go shop there :)

Yeah cd's are expensive. Here in Portugal we pay 17 - 20 euros for one new cd. I don't spend too much money in cd's, I don't think it's worth it, I prefer live concerts, even if it's the local band... I think that music should be free like any other form of culture, if there are libraries there should exist the same for music (well I already went to a music library, an archive, but we have to pay to listen, much more to take a copy when it's authorized). Culture should be free and accessible to everyone...*

I think it depends on where you purchase your CDs, but I would say that generally they are too expensive. Bainbridge Island, my hometown, has a local, independent music store called 'The Glass Onion', and most of their prices are absolutely ridiculous. New releases are usually in the range of 18-20 dollars, and many old releases, such as Beatles albums, also cost that much. However, there are some specific albums there that are 'Super Savers', which are about eleven or twelve dollars, which isn't too expensive, in my opinion. I like this store though, because you can special order anything for no shipping cost, and the manager is a great, knowledgable person when it comes to music (and also has a great personality otherwise). Sometimes when I go there, I find myself talking to him extensively about music, in a way that I would never talk with friends of mine or employees at a place like Sam Goody.

I rarely buy CDs at the Glass Onion anymore, though. If I ever want to purchase some albums, I go to Amazon and buy them used. I have yet to order a used CD from them and have it actually look like it was used. All the used CDs I've ordered from Amazon literally look like they were just bought out of a store. They are also incredibly cheap - most of them go for about six or seven dollars.
