My friends friend Mark bought a syringe from a website for Cambodian Strain psychedelic mushrooms. The syringe was kept at a temperature of approx 90-105 degrees for 2-3 days. Mark then used the PF-tek method I believe and when he went through the process of getting the jar incubated, the incubation process was slow. In addition, Mark OVER-INCUBATED so the total incubation process took around 3.5 months. Mark then went through the procedure trying to grow fruit bodies from the over incubated cakes. He succeeded. The color of Marks fruit bodies however are very dark in color, and the fruit bodies after drying are almost black in color, is this normal? Did Mark potentially grow poisonous mushrooms? The cakes color was white, then bruised blue more and more during the growing/ harvest process. There was a weird odor according to his description but this may have just been normal, I am not sure. Other than that, the shapes of the mushrooms are a bit abnormal b/c the caps are relatively tiny and the stems are huge, from the same cake, some caps are huge and stems are normal, hmmmm? Any help will be appreciate, I dont want Mark to eat bad mushrooms and die Thank you.
Cambodian caps are small sometimes.. they are fine.. Psilocybe cubensis Cambodia is an exceptionally fast fruiter. Psilocybe cubensis Cambodia mycelium grows noticeable faster than other Psilocybe cubensis strains. Overheating can be a problem when many jars or bags are stacked together in a confined and isolated place. As short as a week after exposing cased trays or cakes to fruiting conditions magic mushrooms form. Magic mushrooms are medium sized on cased grain but can become very large on rice flour cakes. A great aspect of this Psilocybe cubensis strain is its ability to form in-vitro magic mushrooms. This means that the magic mushrooms can grow directly from the inoculated substrate while still in the jar or bag. No terrarium or fruiting chamber is necessary and contamination problems are reduced to the minimum. Magic mushroom yields however are substantially less compared to those obtained by regular cultivation methods. Psilocybe cubensis Cambodia produces very abundant and uniform flushes. This is certainly one of the easiest Psilocybe cubensis strains around. Growth parameters: Fruiting substrate: Grain, compost, pasteurised dung & straw, rice flour cakes Spawn substrate: Grain Colonisation temperature: 28-30°C Cropping temperature: 23-26°C
cut open one of the stems, is it black all the way through? Remember that mushrooms bruise very easily, when fresh its usually blue but when you dry it does darken. Also if your cakes were not contaminated i don't see how your mushrooms could be. Take a q-tip with rubbing alcohol on it and rub the area to see if any of this black color comes off. Sounds to me like you have extremely beat up shrooms. But take everything into consideration, was the odor different then any of your other attempts, Mushrooms do have an odd odor(obviously), doesn't smell like something that molded in your fridge though, its hard to describe the smell. Everything about this grow was off it appears. If you can take pictures, it will help ALOT
