Ok I have Dr. Bronner's soap which contains lots of natural oils and plant extracts with no artificial fragrance or conditioners. If I just use this, dry my hair, don't comb it, don't brush my fingers through it, and just let it grow, is this a good way to get dreads? People here say natural is better so I wanted to go with that. My hair is about 2 inches long now.

    What are your views?

Saying natural is better is like saying Cheddar cheese tastes better than mozzerlla. It all depends on who's saying it and what they like....

But none the less, washing your hair with a residue free, or anti residue shampoo (dosnt have to be natural or have special oils...some people just like that they are and do containe those) will eventual lead to your hair knotting up and causing phat locks

I like the natural way because you don't really have to do anything more except do your routine a little differently.

well backcombing is the same... (i assume you dont consider that natural even though its without chemicals and just another way to encourage the formation). I mean, you sit and get it done (as would a normal person for a haircut) and after that, you change your routine from brushing to rolling, which is similar, i think. and you learn diffferent techniques on cleaning it and such, which you would need to learn with any dreads. i think they all are just as much to learn, its just a matter of how you want the end results. all natural looks differently. .. backcombed can look however you want it.

anyway, if you dont use conditioner and you never touch a brush, your hair will eventually knot. think of what causes you to get knots generally. and then learn how to clean them.
